Re: Haskin Top 10 Racing Movies

The Lemon Drop Kid with Bob Hope... recall one scene in which Bob tells Nellie Thursday (aka Jane Darwell) to "keep her chins up". Also had Bill Frawley (aka Fred Mertz) from I Love Lucy. Really enjoyed Phar Lap, based on the true story... same actor (Tom Burlinson) who was in The Man from Snowy Riv...

Re: Road to the Derby Race of the Day

It may also be worth keeping an eye on Unknown Road. He closed really well for second in Coup de Grace's debut race, actually made-up some ground on Coup in that race. It looks like he has started working again recently at FG.

Re: CashCall Futurity

An absolutely awesome performance by Shared Belief! They reeled off 24's and then he closed in 6 seconds flat going 8.5f. At this point, no other 2yo out there comes close to touching the 106 BSF he received in here, especially considering the distance (over one mile). With that said, I agree with t...

Re: Derby Lists 2014

Kentucky Derby Top 10 – 2014 (December 2013) Cairo Prince – Like many people I was hoping that the Remsen would tell us a little more about his capabilities. It didn’t turn out that way because the race was falsely run but if you look at the bare facts he is a nose away from being undefeated. His o...

Re: Remsen

Read that Honor Code's preliminary BSF was an 88... was that number he finally received?

Re: Remsen

Just a note in case it wasn't already mentioned... CP was toting 6 lbs. more than the winner, as well as the rest of the field.

Re: Remsen

Going 9f in just their third start as a 2yo, perhaps some conditioners would do themselves well to take another look, or perhaps a look back, at the racing schedules of the 2yos of yesteryear. Looking back at Easy Goer's career, for example, he didn't go a mile until his 5th start. A number of othe...

Re: Remsen

Cairo Prince drew a good post. Noble Moon perhaps not so much in the 1 spot, but it's 9f and not an overly large field, so he should be able to fall in behind the early leaders and still get a good trip. Why do you think the outside is good for Cairo Prince here? While it is a short run to the firs...

Re: Early Derby favorites

Seems like there hasn't been much mention of Shared Belief, but his Hollywood Prevue S. performance (99 BSF) was very impressive.

Re: Remsen

Really looking forward to this one. Cairo Prince, who was very impressive last out, and Honor Code look like the top two in here, but Noble Moon (if he runs) could have an impact as well. This looks like one of the best renewals of this race in quite awhile.

Two other 2yos that look like ones to watch, especially as distances increase, are Unknown Road and Noble Moon.

Re: 2 year olds of 2013

Imo, the top three 2yo's at this time (with an eye toward next May) are:

1 - Cairo Prince
2 - Honor Code
3 - Strong Mandate

Re: Nashua, Tempted featured on Aqueduct's opening weekend

Somewhat surprised no one has mentioned this race result yet, at least in this thread. A very impressive performance by Cairo Prince, crossing the wire more than a full second faster than the winning 2yo filly a few races earlier on the card. He made a very strong move on the turn and quickly opened...

Re: 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic

Glad for the winning trainer and jockey. Also, a really nice race by the Euro Declaration of War. Had he changed leads in the stretch.... it appeared as though he only lost by a half length or less as it was. But AO has Australia back in the barn to look forward to.

Re: Champagne Stakes (G1)

Really looking forward to this race. Strong Mandate looks like the real deal and the one to beat in here. He's a big, strong colt that should only get better with more distance and age given his pedigree. Otherwise, Havana owns the best BSF with a 102, and Honor Code came from some 20+ lengths back ...
