Re: Santa Anita 2019

If nobody can use the whip and nobody can use lasix, then nobody has an advantage. I will be interested to see how Baffert's horses run without lasix to mask whatever he may or may not be giving his horses. His horses have way too much natural gate speed, IMO. A Euro take on this... Santa Anita Park...

I Am Horse Racing

Worth a follow on twitter @IamHorseRacing

Tells the some of the stories of the people that work in the industry. Good to see something like this because way too many non horse racing people don't realize how many people are employed in the business and how much people care about the animals.

Re: Boycott of Bloodhorse and Stronach Tracks

Did they can him for a legit reason? Doubtful. He is an Eclipse Award winning journalist. They could have suspended him a week if he broke some rules. This is about the big guys unhappy with critical coverage of their business. I am a customer of their tracks. I read the Bloodhorse and used to subsc...

Re: Boycott of Bloodhorse and Stronach Tracks

It's hard to say whether or not they canned him for a legit reason. But their handling of this vs. their handling of Haskin and the awful rescue woman is very strange. I feel like we are owed an explanation but really, are we truly owed anything? I've never felt worse about being a fan of racing th...

Boycott of Bloodhorse and Stronach Tracks

Usually not big on boycotts, but they will no longer get my traffic, and I will no longer wager on Gulfstream (only 2 weeks left for me anyway) or Santa Anita. Isn't Balan the same guy who won an Eclipse for his coverage of the fires at San Luis Rey? The sport needs more people who point out the pro...

Re: Jeremy Balan

Someone with a little pull in the business may need to step in on this one. Jeremy did his job. California allows trainers like Baffert to get away with murder, some would say literally, of horses, with no suspension, then a writer does his job and he gets suspended? Something not right here.

1 Code of Honor - Remains at Top.
2 Omaha Beach- Moves up to #2 The likely Kentucky Derby favorite.
3 Outshine
4 Game Winner- Solid Effort yesterday.
5 Improbable- Drops from 2 to 5. May not want to go 10F.

Kentucky Derby Top 5

1. Code of Honor

He already has the points, should like going longer, and his turfy pedigree could make him jump up a little on the Churchill track. Trainer knows how to win Derby.

2. Improbable
3. Omaha Beach
4. Outshine
5. Game Winner

Monmouth Park Stakes Schedule

Noticed the Haskell has been moved to a Saturday July 20. Anyone know where the rest of the stakes schedule can be found. Is the United Nations run on July 6 or the last week of June this year? Saratoga's stakes schedule can be found here with new Saratoga Oaks (they need to fix the restrictions on ...

Stallion Fee Private Question

Relatively new to the breeding part of the sport. Can anyone explain why a stallion's fee becomes private? I noticed American Pharoah is now private. What does this mean? All the other top stallions like Frankel, Justify, Uncle Mo have set fees. Thank you for any input.

Kentucky Wildcat is the first foal of one of my most favorite mares, Better Lucky. Her entire female family has come through clutch for me at big odds many times. I am hoping for better than 9/2 to the streak continues.
Unfortunately he was vanned off. Hopefully things are ok.

Re: Reasons why Barns go Ice Cold?

Albertrani never wins at a high percentage, and Toner probably just has mediocre stock. Have either been losing with a lot of short priced horses? A lot of trainers use Gulfstream as a Winter respite to get ready for the Spring and Summer. The purses aren't great and some don't love the track. Albe...

Reasons why Barns go Ice Cold?

Noticed today while looking at Gulfstream Park's 5th race today that two excellent trainers Tom Albertrani and Jimmy Toner have horses entered and both barns have been ice cold. Albertrani has 1 win in his last 25 starts. Toner has 1 win in his last 48 starts. I hate to not use the Albertrani 1st ti...
