Re: Santa Anita Derby

So far I'm liking horses who finished second more than the actual winners in this weekend's preps.

Gemini, This Twitter thread might help you feel better about the enduring bloodlines of Nureyev, at least through mares. Frances J Karon @francesjkaron I've gotta give some love to my beloved Nureyev : DWC to Thunder Snow (2nd dam by Nureyev; 1st dam is inbred 4x2 to Nureyev); Dubai Turf to Almond ...

Re: The Derby Points System and the Decline of the American 2yo: A Statistical Analysis

This is a great read, but I have to admit some of it went over my head. I took statistics in college and immediately forgot most of it. Why is a p-value of 0.0003 significant?

Everybody has forgotten about Harvey Wallbanger. I wonder if he can repeat here. I like Bourbon War the most. Maximum Security is a mystery with the class jump and longer distance.

Re: Million Dollar Louisiana Derby

The Coolmore deal was on the table long before the announcement. Since they have a habit of swooping in and securing deals with 2yo Champs - much like they approached Zayat about Pharoah in like December or January before his run, the deal was only announced in May. Yes, thank you. I recall vague r...

Just ask Classic Empire how willing Casse is to back off of his TC horses...
I have to think that a large part of the Classic Empire situation was due to Coolmore trying to push him into things before rushing him off to the shed.

Well guys, Chasing Yesterday is something.
Slow start, pretty wide, and probably could've won by more. What a classy girl.

Re: Sad state of breeding

The downside is that they want a return on their investment and they want it fast. it is all about money. It is not about the love of the horse and the love of the sport. It's not about personal pride of breeding a top winner and passion and dedication. It's about breeding a sales topper. It's abou...

Alessandria (GB) became the 29th daughter of Sunday Silence (USA) to produce one or more G1 winners worldwide, when her 5yo gelding Avilius (GB)[by Pivotal(GB)] won the G1 Ranvet Stakes 2000m turf for Godolphin at Rosehill, Austraila, on March 23rd 2019. He showed a beautiful turn of foot. 8-) http...

It's hard to say whether or not they canned him for a legit reason. But their handling of this vs. their handling of Haskin and the awful rescue woman is very strange. I feel like we are owed an explanation but really, are we truly owed anything? I've never felt worse about being a fan of racing th...

He is handsome indeed even if his name isn't the best  And true black are pretty rare so if he isn't black then he must be a really dark shade of dark bay/brown. The Jockey Club sometimes register them as dark bay/brown even if they are true black though so who knows... I've looked at several ...

LRT looks black, but he’s registered with the Jockey Club as dark bay/brown. His time was faster than than that of the older horses in the Essex. http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=Horse&refno=10098975®istry=T just in case anyone was wondering. he does not appear to be registered ...

Everybody in the public comment section seems to be in favor of Jeremy, not saying that's the wrong place to be but is there anybody representing SA or BH with an opinion on the issue? That seems to be a huge part of the problem: neither SA nor the Bloodhorse want to say anything. They'd rather pre...
