We were talking about him a little earlier this fall.

Re: 2018 Two-year-olds

I saw somewhere that Cairo Prince got two TDN rising stars this past weekend. A colt named Mihos and a filly out of the Baffert barn with a name starting with Q... anyone catch those races?

Re: Racing in Japan

The most recent world record I could find for 1 mile 1/2 was in 2013, Bright Thought ran it in 2:22.72, beating Hawkster’s prior 2:22.8 I imagine it must be a world record nothing I can dig up even seems to break below 2:22 Although I have a slight doubt because there used to be a website that liste...

Re: Kitten's Joy's Progeny

I might be misremembering or confusing with another stallion then but I seem to recall specifically it was that Ramsey experimented with a bunch of different mares. Again I’m not necessarily talking about quality mares but after some time he started figuring out what worked and what didn’t and then ...

Re: Racing in Japan

I think she could go toe to toe with Winx and with Enable and Sea of Class. To think she is only 3 years old! I want to vomit from excitement just thinking about the possibility!

I hope Baroque is ok.

Re: Kitten's Joy's Progeny

I didn’t say quality mares. But I thought he was very peculiar about which mares he thought were a good match regardless of accomplishment or ancestry?

Young Horses, vs Physical Maturity

Wasn't sure where to put this but thought it would be interesting to share since every now and then discussion about running babies comes up. https://scontent.fyhu2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/23473268_10155855368393805_7126465107261460255_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&_nc_ht=scontent.fyhu2-1.fna&oh=5bfc3438d1ac0f...

I wrote in Hopper. I'm still a tiny bit sad he won't be running next year.
Foiled Again is a great idea too.

Re: Mendelssohn

I can only surmise it is in avoidance of kickback as AOB said in an interview around Travers time that kickback is the only thing they couldn’t practice at home. He was announced for the Coolmore roster for 2019 so I think it’s almost definitive and owners were already planning mares to him, I suppo...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Not to be nitpicky but Justify didn't run in a river in the Preakness... It was a sealed wet track and it wasn't even raining by post time. The foggy conditions were impressive but I'm fairly certain that impedes the jockeys moreso than the horses. Throwing around terms like river, monsoon etc. com...

Re: Random News about Breeding and Breeders

Interesting article https://www.paulickreport.com/features/bloodlines/bloodlines-size-and-the-thoroughbred/ Several times over the past weeks, readers have commented on the look of the contemporary Thoroughbred in comparison with horses of past years. In particular, readers have noted that racers t...

Given a choice, which one would you rather have owned from the beginning of the year?
What are your variables with this hypothetical? Do we know what they will accomplish? Do we get to make decisions regarding their career? Do we have their earnings as of February in our pockets? etc.

Re: Mendelssohn

And then there's those suicidal paces. . . is this "mismanagement" or an Achille's tendon? Overcompensation? They worked so much on breaking sharply and I suspect maybe because Ryan Moore simply isn't used to the pace of US dirt races, might have found himself misjudging both the early speed necess...

Re: Across the pond

Should be underlined that Roaring Lion has done something no colt in thlonger US has ever done that is to say win 4 G1s (or the equivalent thereof) against older males as a 3yo. Closest have been 3 G1s against olders (Arts and Letters, Secretariat, Easy Goer. As for Europe, he is in select company. ...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

I’ve long wondered if Secreteriat would have smashed time enduring records if he hadn’t run against Sham. But I’m not convinced Justify would’ve come even close if he had his own Sham. Not convinced about the staying with the pack argument either considering in his starts in California he seemed to ...

I was expecting the Pegasus. The Cigar Mile is a surprise. I love AOB and for the most part admire his operation. I love this horse and feel he hasn't had the best chance to shine . I wonder what this horse might be capable of giving with some time off and a 4yo campaign, stabled in America. Wish A...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Yeah, and I'm guessing the wind was a factor in the scratches. At that point it's safe to say they're running against the wind more than each other, so good on her for breaking slow, facing the wind and still crossing first.
