Re: Ziconic

The colours of horses registered and sold are just based on what the jockey club lists as options and they have little to do with actual genetics and more with perception. Sunday Silence was a true black but registered as dark brown. The most telling part of it is the fact they lump together "gray/r...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Could be gulastra plume maybe? (I can't remember if it only shows up over the Extension gene or if shows up on chestnuts too).

More pictures could betray the rabi if we can find any white hairs.

True, about the genetic material. Regarding the Bonne Nuit line that Gem Twist is from... I saw this absolutely stunning, smokey buckskin thoroughbred gelding for sale as an eq/show jumping prospect a few years ago. He's out of a mare named Erotic Twist and by Sato. Unfortunately, 20 000$ is out of ...

Huh. I think I would trust Equibase more, probably.

I also forgot Frammento who breezed in 48.33

Re: Diana Handicap

Wow. New course record, thrilling photo finish... Hard Not To Like really is hard not to like though (esp for me, I have a bias towards Grey's and Canadian breds) :D And what to say of the showing of Kitten's Queen? Good value certainly.

Wonder if anyone got that tri?

Can someone post a replay here when its done? Was distracted by the PanAm games... Bummed out about the DQ though, he was one of the colts I mentioned in my previous posts.

Re: Sanford Stakes (Grade 3) - 07/25/15

Interesting pedigrees on some of these colts. Particularly salivating over Awesome Slew, Magna Light, Sunny Ridge. Cocked and Loaded also has some interesting stuff going on, and Percolator as well as Uncle Vinny. Should be an interesting group of colts to follow. Awesome Slew caught my eye too but...

Re: Storm Catlets

I don't know if it was so "secretly" they were actually trying to campaign with the AHA to get the clone registered, and lobbying for the registration of clones - but only for breeding, not for show. I seem to recall they were trying to sell the clone with the original stallion or saying they had to...

Re: Storm Catlets

I don't think it is too common in racehorses, no, but it did happen with Siberian Summer, according to this old article. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/4505/jockey-club-launches-ai-inquiry-sets-separate-hearing And that was without digging specifically, I was just looking to see if ...

Re: Storm Catlets

All this is going to lead to is the Jockey Club getting sued by someone who wants their clone registered. I still can't believe the Overbrook heirs would allow Storm Cat to be cloned. The AQHA went through this, actually it may not be over yet. The one judge voted Yes to clones, then it went to the...

Re: Prince of Wales Stakes

It would be kind of unusually bumming, considering the trend seems mostly to be to skip the Prince of Wales and point to the Breeders :( I think the filly skipped the POW couple of years ago but she is a turf/synthetic type. If memory serves me correctly. The last 5 winners of the Plate all skipped...

Re: Storm Catlets

The Storm Cats couldn't race. I don't get the idea that he thinks that they can, but instead is looking forward to seeing what polo ability they have. I find it all pretty disturbing. They can't even say yet whether this is working, if they're creating polo horses who are more talented than the fin...

I was being facetious, hence the winky face... and why I specified that I didn't actually know whether Coil did ship directly to Saratoga or not after the Haskell.
