Good for him! I had him in my VS for the longest time, I hold an affection for the little guy.

Re: California Chrome to Japan

Top horses with successful siblings exist but nice horses like Chrome rarely ever have siblings that even begin to accomplish shat they did, so I fail to see how Faversham and Hope's Love's success or lack thereof affects him a lot. While on topic, it's even weirder how breeders rejected SS because...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Danon Pharaoh , AP x MGSW Crisp (exported in utero) broke his maiden in his second start in Japan. Sorry, got this from Coolmore on FB and don't remember the track! Runs back in the Cattleya Sho at Tokyo Racecourse on Saturday — the opening round of the Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby. He will als...

Re: California Chrome to Japan

Racing in the U.S. desperately needs people to engage with the sport/industry at all levels. It needs fans. It needs people to fall in love with the horses. It needs people to dream about maybe buying into a horse. It needs people to fill the stands to see their favorites run. This beautiful, shiny...

Re: Stallion News

a single breeding can yield anywhere from 15 to 320 straws if I'm not mistaken (depending on quality, concentration and size of the straw) and a single dose can be anywhere from 1 to 8 straws. So depending on how they choose to go about it, it may not put more strain on a stallion. Ground collection...

Mikki Punch is stunning. Question for the color gurus here. Is he a Palomino? If not, what causes such very blonde mane and tail on a chestnut?
I think it has to do with a flaxen gene?
That is correct.

Re: California Chrome to Japan

A Cal-bred with a Triple Crown near miss going to Japan... now where have I seen that before? 8-) Perhaps lightning can strike twice. Really wishing him the best in Japan! Unfortunately it seems he wasn't doing as well at the sales as they had hoped at least relative to his stud fee. His highest sel...

She also nicks A with Pharoah. But I agree, you've got Tapit and Medaglia d'Oro, and as we saw with Pioneerof the Nile recently, there's no guarantee they'll still be here 2 years from now.
Good lord, I wish we could have seen a Beholder/POTN foal....

Re: 2019 BC Classic

I'm wondering if they're going after Cross Country Events too and other sports actually, never saw anyone complain about that. I know it's a bit of "what aboutism" what I'm saying now, but if they would want to protect horses they shouldn't just focus on a single sport. PETA is nuts anyway, most pe...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I don't think cantering and trotting in the wrong direction (only) wouldn't even it out enough when compared to working and racing since the effort is much higher. Horses also tend to have a strong and weak side (they can be left or right handed) so I suppose if their naturally weak side on top of e...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Greyhound racing has been banned in multiple states by now, it is somewhat naive to think that horse racing is any safer. Look at what happened in Florida, all they had to do was put it on the ballot (with confusing wording to boot) hidden in another bill, spin some tall tales about Greyhound racing...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

No one is saying SA is at fault, necessarily. My impression is more that with the BC choosing to stay at SA, it took a great risk in the optics of it. The media focus is on SA and Cali racing. If this had happened at Keeneland, it wouldn't be as big of a deal to the general public. It would still be...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Looking at the replay it looks like it could've been either or (i.e. break happened before contact, or just at the moment of contact). WoW did really well not to trip and stumble. I also hope that the connections will do what is best for the horse. Was supposed to go to a halloween party tonight (dr...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I hope the best for Mongolian groom but fear the worst. If he's euthanized the breeders cup board of directors is going to have a huge public outcry and shit show on their hands for refusing to relocate to another track. If Mongolian groom dies that'll be the third santa Anita death this week...I f...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I heard he wasn't training all that great :/ Damn, did he go down or just pull up? Pulled up at the top of the stretch. Hopefully that jock saved the horse's life. We've come a long way medically from the days of Ruffian and even Barbaro. I'm watching on the BC stream they said they would update as...

Good for Vino!
Yoshida never looked comfortable, McKinzie did way better than I expected all things considered.

Good for Elate, she could've had a better trip but loss absolutely nothing in defeat to the boys.

Hope Mongolian Groom will be ok. Pulled up is better than broke down... right?

Yeah I doubt Japan will let go of BaM so easily, when his success on firm turf most closely resembles Japanese turf.
