Re: 2018 foals

The temperatures in Kentucky horse country are expected to drop to 7 degrees tonight with highs tomorrow only in the teens. How are the adult horses and foals, if any are born during this frigid snap, protected? Are they still turned out? The foals born this time of year usually arrive with plenty ...

Maybe 1/4/18?
I'm quite sure the first have already appeared. When they will be announced is a different story. ;)

Re: 2017 Fasig-Tipton November Sale

No the previous owner has to pay the stud fee before selling the mare. How does that work then if the foal doesn't survive? The stud fee has to be paid before the mare sells or the stud farm won't release the stallion certificate (needed to register the foal.) If the foal doesn't survive, the new o...

His stud fee is a moot point as his book has been full since August.

Re: Stallions that got 'hot' and then faded?

Both Tiznow and Lemon Drop Kid started out hot with their first few crops, then faded away for 3-4 years before they came roaring back.

I can't imagine someone aborting an Into Mischief foal--even one with an unfortunate birth date.

Re: Stallion News

Astern is handsome, but he had his greatest success as a two-year-old. Looks like Darley is going to stand their own version of a precocious MdO colt, like Coolmore's Golden Slipper winner, Vancouver. Both colts are stunners, although I think I like Vancouver's looks better. I'm eager to see how th...

There will be, but it hasn't been released yet by the Jockey Club. I think it comes out in mid-October.

Zenyatta's offspring need speed. Into Mischief is a great source.

Re: First Winners

Sunny Skies just won the 1st at Keeneland, a 4 1/2-furlong MSW full of nicely-bred fillies. TVG said she is the first winner for Animal Kingdom , although I wonder if he has had a winner already in Australia, where he stood first before coming back to the US. Sunny Skies looks like she could be som...

Re: Zenyatta News

Perhaps they are not going to say anything about Zenyatta foaling this year after the events with her last two foals. Her foaling date based on the last breeding they mentioned of May 2nd, would have put her approximate foal date at April 7th. That was a week ago. While dates are approximate, seems...

Not too horrible a name, but a 3 YO filly named Morticia won a turf sprint stakes race at Gulfstream last Saturday. With that name I had to bet on her, and now I can't get the theme song to "The Adams Family" out of my head. :) Morticia is out of Halloween Party. Maybe the owner has fond memories o...

Was just trolling around the BC Noms site and found out that an old Ohio favorite, Pay The Man (now owned by Calumet) gave birth to a colt by Oxbow. I was surprised to see the gender was already listed, does anyone know how long that information usually takes to trickle in? You're supposed to file ...

Victoria has spoken about him before on this BB as Fox Hill owned and raced the horse. I would imagine that if you contact her she can tell you much of what you want to know.

If his fee is Live Foal Guarantee, then nobody pays until their mare has a live foal, right?
Yes.
