Re: Barbados Oaks

I've got a bunch of ARMs, actually. (American Racing Manuals. Not arms. Two are enough, though I guess I could use more) Local HP Books are wonderful (there's probably 5 in my general area (north of Austin), but down here, horse racing isn't exactly a going concern. There's usually few 'Trendsetter...

Re: BRISnet issues?

Brisnet still wasn't working last night and I got an e-mail from tech support this morning that says they're working on the problem. It's frustrating because I'm doing research and some of the horses aren't in Equibase, but are in Brisnet, or are in Equibase with no race record and have a race recor...

One interesting fact: 10 of the 12 TC winners were bred by the people who owned them.

The two exceptions were Sir Barton and Seattle Slew.

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

So since they aren't pure Thoroughbreds are they allowed to race? Or are they all jump racers, which don't have to be pure Thoroughbred? I think there are flat races where horses in Weatherby's Non-Thoroughbred Registry can compete. What's interesting is that Weatherby's has a provision for adding ...

Horses. I can't be around them due to severe allergies, but I read Walter Farley, Marguerite Henry, and C. W. Anderson and still have quite a collection of model horses.

Even the playing field in the TC - points for ALL races

After the Belmont, I think that Steve Coburn made a valid point. To get into the Derby a horse has to have a certain number of qualifying points. Any horse can enter the Preakness or Belmont - they don't need qualifying points. To even the playing field, I think that horses entering the Preakness an...

One interesting historical note regarding the Triple Crown. Of the 11 winners, 9 have been owned by their breeders.

The other two? Sir Barton was sold as a two-year-old and Seattle Slew was sold at auction as a yearling.
