Re: Songbird

It may seem silly, but for some reason I really miss the name King's Bishop. It was always a favorite race of mine, and a cool name.

Re: Songbird

Don't know why Jerry would be very upset, probably "upset" isn't the best word to use. #chemobrainisreal Songbird’s Personal Ensign Loss ‘Nothing To Be Ashamed Of’ “She came back very good,” he said, adding that she was completely sound and perfectly healthy. “The important thing is that she is abs...

Re: Songbird

Her name is Forever Unbridled, and she was up against the pace scenario, so give her some credit- she's a very good racehorse too. I regret if it sounds like he's not giving her proper credit. She was who we feared in the race, so I hope understanding that shows we did give her appropriate respect....

Well, outside the fact she probably couldn't.
In fairness, the rest of the quote is needed. He then said "we need to see that she's back to the old Songbird first."

Re: Keeneland November

$3.5m, and she goes to a European who will send her to Galileo or other top European turf stallion.

I'd hope this for her. She's the best turf filly we've seen in quite awhile.

Racing during the Eclipse

At least one track is racing tomorrow, Delaware Park. It occurred to me that it'll be interesting to watch that unfold. I will be watching the Eclipse in my back yard but plan to record TVG to see how that unfolded, and thought I'd mention to others who may find it interesting.

Re: Arrogate

I still think there is something physically wrong with Arro. Has nowhere near the same acceleration and fluidity of his stride as earlier in the year. I wonder if he tweaked something in Dubai and it has been bothering him since then. Seems like rads and a thorough ultrasound of his legs would be i...

Re: Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1) - 7/30/17

If I were Baffert and Sadler, I would draw straws to skip the Zenyatta at Santa Anita as a prep. These Amazons don't need to throw down again before the BC Distaff. Great race, but Mike should know that Vale Dori hates the whip! Add a likely Songbird to the race. She may not like it, but she respon...

Re: Haskell Invitational S. (G1) - 7/30/17

Might be a year that once again proves that "No one" should be offered as a choice.

I like Practical Joke but wish he'd run shorter so we can either see him win or find that he's one of those horses who always knocks but never enters.

Re: Arrogate

Arrogate has impressed with how he's won, not who he beat. That's why I'm having a problem with the "4 greatest races" idea that is talked about a lot. No one would be saying it if the same fields were called the Woodward or Pacific Classic. Arrogate is hardly alone. The same is said of Songbird amo...

Re: Arrogate

Man, two days ago I was starting to worry that sweeping four of the most competitive dirt G1s in the world was a big deal or something... super relieved to discover that it's not. Wasn't the Pegasus pretty much just a matchup between Arrogate and Chrome? And the real Chrome didn't show up? What dir...

Re: Arrogate

Wait, are people saying Arrogate is superior to Ghostzapper because of the company he raced against? Sorry but I have trouble buying that. Arrogate is impressive but he is not some super special thing. Many other horses have run amazing races and done 'impossible' things. Comparing them is fun put ...

Re: Arrogate

I love the wiener dog races. I only saw two. The first one the winner rolled right out while the other two basically rolled over. I think they just strolled around in front of the gate sniffing each other. The second had another winner who rolled... and kept rolling way past the finish line and his ...

Re: Two-year-olds of 2017

Here's one to watch: Larry Jones homebred by Kodiak Kowboy out of Just Jan, whose claim to fame was she was the workmate of Grace. Named Kowboy Karma, he debuted Wed at Del Park. Watch the replay at BH. He ran like daddy, a closing sprinter, and just blew by the field to win by 12 or so. He got an 8...

Re: Arrogate

Som, I'm surprised any literature makes that claim. The biggest bounce supporters (for lack of a better term) like Ragozin will advise 5 weeks or 2 months (meaning skipping a race), but I've never heard them even theorize that a horse needs several months. If anything, I'd lean towards the opposite,...
