Re: The VENT Thread

Yeah, try to stay away from that first tracheostomy. They tend to have friends. I've had three or four. One nitwit in a white coat was mumbling on my last stay, I heard that word mumble by. Told him to ask whichever member of the herd of drs did my last one what my throat looks like. It's why I'm o...

Re: Chad Brown has been ordered to pay more than $1 million ....

Even after reading it I sincerely doubt Chad himself is doing payroll. Does the president of your company do it? Someone he hired likely did it for him. Nowhere did I say it was an ooops. Someone was clearly negligent. How backstretch workers are treated in my opinion is looooow. Had to offset the ...

Re: The VENT Thread

The problem I've run into is the lack of big-picture thinking and coordination among the practitioners. Yep, it's called "practicing" medicine because they're truly just practicing on us. They make a diagnosis based on their particular specialty even if it explains only one of the symptoms and they...

Re: TV Discussion Thread

The Tyrion Explains It All was a little tiresome, but otherwise, it was as satisfying an ending as we were going to have. The build up to the last season was so immense, there was no way it was going to exceed or even meet expectations. Drogon and Ghost were the best parts of the episode, though. Al...

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

Saw somewhere earlier that War Front started out at like either $17K or $7K. It seems like War Front doesn't have that many sons that "go on" and keep the form they had as 2/3 year olds on the surface (and from memory), but that's probably largely due to the climate of retiring to stud ASAP. I've f...

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

I think the biggest shocker isnt War Front siring a Triple Crown race winner... its a Sadler's Wells mare producing a War Front one LOL Bahahaha this is true. However, the female family also produced Aldebaran (multiple G1 winner on dirt) in addition to a bunch of turf stakes winners, so it's not s...

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

oh my gosh thank you for posting that glorious win by dear Gander!! what a smart horse - he rode a perfect race - didn't bother anyone, stalked the leader - and knew when to make his move for the lead - one of my most favorite races ever! I remember watching it live and could not stop smiling after...

What a chunk. Does Oxbow look like a Hanoverian/Quarterhorse cross? Because his brother sure does. :P Oxbow more closely resembles a Welsh pony.   The Stallion Register has Oxbow listed as 16hh. That must be with his high heels on. But I have to say, he's better made than th...

Ugh, right? I'm more looking forward to this week's Grey's Anatomy season finale than the Game of Thrones finale. That's just messed up.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

In many areas (and esp where I live, ugh) the speed limit is routinely and informally disregarded. One can routinely drive around 25 mph over the limit on the highway without getting a ticket. If that informal understanding between the cops and the drivers were to change and tickets given out more ...

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

To me, that's like saying "some people break the speed limit when they drive so we should just do away with speed limits." Hopefully this means that there will be more consistency going forward. In many areas (and esp where I live, ugh) the speed limit is routinely and informally disregarded. One c...

Re: Horse Racing is now officially a joke

If Tony Stark was known as a war profiteer earlier on, all The Sport of Kings is to me is horse profiteering. Phar Lap. Alydar. Exceller. Ferdinand. So I decided to read this whole thread for entertainment purposes and I got stuck on this for some reason. Why is Phar Lap on this list? He was neithe...

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

Kudos to Bill Mott for putting his horse first. I'd rather a trainer care about his horse's health than run them when they are not at 100%. I swear that every time I read twitter comments I wonder if they really only care about the horse's safety/health right after they die. Bill Mott is one of the...

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

I guess you would have to ask the stewards why the Derby has so many different standards. you know, like for every other year during the running of this race, we just look the other way when questionable stuff is happening out there on the track.... except for the 2019 running. talk about different...
