Mastery

I went back to January but did not find an entry for Mastery, although I am sure I just missed it.

Anyone has a status on him? I know his surgery went well and he is back in his barn.

How is he recovering? Any news from Baffert for his future?

Re: The Preakness

I don't expect connections will run Cloud Computing in the Belmont.

Sorry, but I don't quite feel excited about running a fresh horse, who sat out the Derby while others labored.

Re: The Preakness

I guess we'll see the 3 yo champion at Saratoga. I agree. I still think the best 3 year old is Classic Empire. I hope they skip the Belmont and give him a nice break to bring him back fresh. Always Dreaming too. I think both are better horses down the road than the winner. They took it to each othe...

There'd be absolutely zero tolerance for such nonsense if the roles were reversed imho.
First off you don't know who was my fave in the Derby so there is no reason for your boneheaded post.

Second, what roles reversed?

Re: Trainers et al

They're are quite a few things you could dislike about Plecther but to use the way he celebrates or emotes as one just seems like sour grapes to me. So what if he doesn't make a huge hoopla, it just isn't his thing. That's ok, doesn't mean he's all evil or what not. lol I agree with you a 100%. It ...

Re: Trainers et al

He usually has three or four entries in major races.

So not placing at all it quite a bummer.

I am not an enemy of his. But today's reaction of his on winning his horse the Derby was pathetic.

Trainers et al

I will probably get a lot of flak for this. I was totally nonplussed at Pletcher's reaction at his win of the Derby: he was like a robot, with a canned response. Lukas, he man who gave him the secrets was classes above him when he won a race. I am aware of Pletcher's MOD: he enters half the field so...

Re: California Chrome

Just so happy and even a little misty-eyed knowing California Chrome rebounded in such big way. He brought people together during that 2014 Triple Crown attempt. Then he went through a downward spiral during the latter half of 2014 and went winless twice in 2015. Like LeBron James cry after he brou...

Re: Baltimore Headline

That headline is gross. I would fire all the sportswriters these papers employ. I got into an argument with the guy at the WSJ for his stupid coverage last year. Lucky for them most readers have no idea about what was going on so they get away with this kind of hubris.

Nyquist will not win the TC. It takes a special talent like Amerian Pharoah to do it.

I like Nyquist but he is not AP.

Re: Fountain Of Youth

Awesome Speed had a shitty day. Awesome Banner wants to sprint. Why are you not overly impressed by Mohaymen? They cantered over the line??? The overall time wasn't bad, but they went slow at the end there - at least they looked like they were going slow. I question him stretching to 10 furlongs. A...

How to vote?
Besides, there is no competition. AP is hands down towering over the rest.

That was awesome! It was good to see the American Pharoah as we know him. He is surely going out with a bang! Wonder if Baffert will have the proof here what a mistake it was to enter him in the Travers.

Re: Cigar

The one I want is the first two races of the long win streak especially the 1994 NYRA Mile when he was 9-1 which was a race eventually named after him. I want to hear Dunkin's pun, "No butts about it, it was Cigar, much the best" in the race (#14) that started the streak. Those races are included i...

read here: http://www.paulickreport.com/news/the-biz/new-york-stewards-sock-espinoza-with-monster-fine/ When I read the title I thought he was fined for beating AP. He beat the hell out of him in the Derby and he came close in the Travers as well. No such thing. I guess the welfare of the horse com...

Re: Travers Stakes (G1)

I hesitate to toss in my two cents, or five cents. But what the heck. Have to agree with Admin that the hindsight stuff is a bit much. Secretariat lost (at Saratoga). Affirmed lost (at Saratoga, by DQ). Slew lost. It happens. Frosted and Lezcano softened him up. I hear some, not necessarily here, s...

Re: Travers Stakes (G1)

A final word about the Travers. I read on one forum the "finally AP found competition". What a great deal of BS! AP beat Keen Ice three times before, in more prestigious races that The Travers. Yeah, if you keep plodding away maybe you find some acorns along the way. There is no glory in beating a t...

Re: Travers Stakes (G1)

My point is this: AP should NOT have run in the Travers, He had nothing to prove after winning the TC. The fact that connections decided to run him in the top races for 3 yos this year is a bonus, and I commend them for that. However, I still have not come to a plausible explanation for the reason t...
