Re: In Memoriam 2019

The article isn't completely clear about where his injury occurred, but I believe it was in Europe. :(

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

I can't find anything about GQ CoverGirl on either Bloodhorse or Paulick.
IMHO, racing has a problem when civilian media run stories about the latest breakdowns...and the racing media doesn't. :?
Sticking its head in the sand and hoping the bad news goes away is not going to help.

Re: 2020 Matings

Coolmore may end up stacked with good Scat Daddy sons. With No Nay Never, Caravaggio, Mendelssohn and Justify, they've invested in SC's line pretty deeply. Coolmore also had Souix Nation, but I'm not sure he's standing at one of their farms. :?

I read that Mike Smith was aboard for Mitole's workout. Is Mike going to be riding him in the Sprint?

It's not official yet, but it looks like Arc victor Waldgeist won't be coming over for the BC Turf. Arc hero Waldgeist set for retirement after toppling Enable at Longchamp Waldgeist looks unlikely to be among the European contingent bound for the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita next week, with the Pri...

Re: Stallion News

I was wondering if Korean racing, like China, doesn't like horse names with any reference to war or violence. I've seen quite a few horses bought for Hong Kong racing that had their names changed because their original moniker had words like War, Battle, Revolt or Rebellion. IIRC, the War Front colt...

The Dirt Mile may have just gotten a bit easier for Omaha Beach, as apparently Catalina Cruiser is going to the Sprint instead. https://www.paulickreport.com/news/breeders-cup/catalina-cruiser-pivots-to-sprint-bellafina-looked-really-good-in-penultimate-work/ Kind of looking forward to maybe...

Ugh. Santa Anita made the news again today, as another breakdown/euthanization has added to the year's toll. :( RIP Satchel Paige . Re: New Stallions of 2020

I wouldn't be surprised if the hope of 'Frankel's genetics for Noble Mission's fee' might have given NM a bit of a boost here...and he just actually might be giving the breeders what they hoped for. 8-)

It's not unheard of for the less-accomplished full brothers of great racehorses to turn out to be decent sires. Giant's Causeway's sibling, Freud, did pretty well for himself.

Re: 2019 Breeders Cup Classic and Watch

Soon after I wrote the above post, I read an article that listed some of the horses OB may face in the Dirt Mile...and yeah, there are a few "formidable" ones. :P
Not only Catalina Cruiser, but apparently Mitole is also entered. Or maybe he's cross-entered for the Sprint as well?
