Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

I wish NBCSN ran the same graphics as TVG during the post parades. I really LIKE seeing the pedigrees of the runners. :x

Re: 2019 BC Juvenile Fillies

Flashback is also a son of the excellent broodmare Rhumb Line. I'd want to give a stallion with that pedigree more than a year or two to prove himself :?

Re: 2019 BC Juvenile Turf Sprint

Four Wheel Drive was a rocket.
Not surprising that a Wesley Ward juvy breaks like a shot, but...did anyone think that American Pharoah would sire really good 2yo turf sprinters? :o

Re: 2019 BC Sprint

I have to go with Imperial Hint . I know there's sentimentality happening here, but I just really want to see the diminutive 'Hint totally disappear behind a bruiser like Catalina Cruiser...and then push his head past at the wire. :D And I also think he is that good. That burly running-back body of ...

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

I'm not sure if I would have been less 'on edge' if the BC had moved to the other most likely location - Churchill Downs. IIRC, Churchill has also had issues with breakdowns and a fatality there, the home of the Kentucky Derby, might have done more harm to the sport nationally than one at Santa Anit...

Re: Melbourne Cup-Marmelo

I have gotten the impression that Thais acts as a pace setter for the other Brown mare, Sistercharlie. Nothing wrong with that, but I wonder if there is another front runner who will give SC the fractions that might help her.

I love Midnight Bisou, but I wouldn't be upset if the John Shirreffs-trained Paradise Woods won on the 10th anniversary of Zenyatta's 'unbelievable' victory.

I just read the Paulick article about this, and it says: ‘Totally Unjustifiable’: Stewards, Trainer Clash As Marmelo Withdrawn From Melbourne Cup The second-place finisher in last year's Melbourne Cup, Marmelo has been ordered withdrawn from the premier race due to results of a standing CT scan perf...

Ten Sovereigns Retired to Join the Coolmore Roster

I'd say 'that was fast,' but it seems like retiring a colt as soon as he acquires one G1 win is the new normal.

Is Hawkbill the first son of Kitten's Joy to stand in Japan? I feel like I'm forgetting someone.

IMHO, the Sprint may have the most quality entrants of any of the BC races. I wouldn't be flabbergasted if almost anyone won.

The royally-bred Delta Prince, who was going to stand at Adena Springs Kentucky for 2020, is gone due to laminitis AND renal failure from colic.

Re: In Memoriam 2019

Such horrible news. He was a good, sound, handsome racehorse, with a rare and royal pedigree. He would have been a welcome addition to the stallion ranks as an important son of the late Street Cry and Delta Princess, and a horse who raced well past his 3yo season.
Damn.

Re: 2019 BC Turf Sprint

It's too bad Battash's last race discouraged his connections from bringing him over. When he's on (and behaving in the stalls), he's a rocket...and IIRC, he likes his turf on the firmer side.

I'm sorry to see that Magical will miss the BC and has, in fact, been retired. It would have been a treat to see this outstanding filly run at Santa Anita. :(
