Re: Stallions and Mares Stolen in Attack on Al Shaab Stud

If the attackers were criminals who are more interested in money than anything else, maybe they could be ransomed.
But there are other motives out there...
...and it hurts to contemplate those.

Re: New Conformation Photos

Call me crazy, but I'm feeling more Storm Cat than Galileo when I look at The Ferryman. Maybe it's a bit of 'Cat fire. ;) Whichever great bay sire you think he resembles, IMHO that's a really handsome horse. I'm drawing a blank on his race record, and I'm too tired to head over to RacingPost to do s...

Re: 2020 Three-Year-Olds

Bouncy is fine. Aiming powerful rear-leg kicks straight at someone's head crosses the line from 'bouncy' to homicidal.
That colt should have a big, red bow tied into his tail, along with a skull & crossbones caution sign. :P

Re: Favorite Photos of Race Horses

Yikes...while I may admire the fact that the person loves horses that much, if you're going to get something as permanent as a tattoo, find an artist who can DRAW.  That may be the ugliest, most anatomically-incorrect equine I've seen since Stronach's butt-ugly Pegasus statue.

American Pepper - c. American Pharoah x Peppers Pride
Wow, there are some fabulous pedigrees in the above list, but I really hope this boy is very good, in honour of his late mom.

Re: The WAR HORSE Chronicles

I'm not shocked that a Japanese horse, even a 14yo, is still intact. They don't seem to geld many horses, even ones who are frelling dangerous on the track.

Re: Horrible Names For Horses

I have to speak up about the whole "Cartel" name and pass on some wisdom received from a certain QH expert (MountainMajesty) from another forum. When I made a remark about Corona Cartel being named by the members of said cartel, he/she took umbrage and pointed out that the horse was named by his own...

Re: The Jockey Club & AI

I agree with her points. I think the big fear of AI use has been that breeders would overuse certain top stallions ( like Tapit ), leading to further narrowing of the gene pool. However, if the Jockey Club can put in place restrictions on the total AI books, that could address the issue. Another plu...

Perhaps racing connections are taking a page out of the typical Oscar Awards campaigns that you see for movies?

It's so tragic. I offer my condolences to you and all Peruvian racing fans for the murder of those beautiful stallions, as well as apparently losing an historic breeding farm.

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Remarks like West's, and the attitude he's showing publicly, are going to feed extremist views that TBs are just a disposable commodity to racehorse owners.
Not what racing needs right now.

Re: In Memoriam 2019

Of course there are scumbags everywhere, and I am not trying to infer every country overseas should be subject to some sort of blacklist. But these murders weren't the result of cruel cretins thrill-hunting feral horses ( Kentucky ) or butchering show horses for meat ( Florida ) It appears that part...

Re: In Memoriam 2019

This is what RacingPost has about his loss: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/bloodstock-latest/top-new-zealand-stallion-tavistock-dies-aged-14-at-cambridge-stud/414744 The article still doesn't describe what his initial injury was, but I don't think that's unusual. Re: Favorite Horses of the Decade (2009/10 - 2019/20)

Poor Game On Dude; he really should have gotten an Older Horse Eclipse somewhere along the line. His fate may be one of those things that prove the BC races have become too important in the minds of the voters. :?
