Re: Eblouissante

Odds are that she will be sent to the shed, but I wish she could have a chance to redeem herself on the track. Her last out was such a debacle, with her freakout and injuries in the gate pretty much taking her out of that race. But, you know some deep-pocket breeder is going to put down a lot of mon...

Re: Stallion News

I agree with you, Calypso, that Leroi' will now get a better book of mares in England than he was getting in Florida. I just wish that he had been supported like that here. Tough being a "grass" sire in the States, and I guess even siring a Derby winner didn't change that perception of him.

Re: TV Discussion Thread

I've been a True Blood fan from the beginning, but I'm not surprised that the show is wrapping up. You kind of have a built-in expiration date when you write a story around immortal characters...and then your leads start looking older. Steven Moyer, especially, looks less and less "ageless" all the ...

Re: Jockey Club Gold Cup Inv. (G1)

Watching the races today at Belmont, the track is fast and speed is holding on. If the track plays the same way on Saturday, that could give Cross Traffic a puncher's chance.

Re: Stallion News

* "Champion Leroidesanimaux, sire of Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, will relocate overseas to stand at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket, England beginning in 2014." This is disappointing. He sired a Kentucky Derby and World Cup winner, but that didn't earn him enough support to avoid being exported...

Re: Awesome Again Stakes (G1)

That is a salty, eclectic group of horses in this race. I know the JCGC is getting a lot of attention back at Belmont, but this race could end up being more entertaining. There are so many stories behind the horses: Paynter, the miracle horse; MMM and Kathy Ritvo, his miracle trainer, Take Control, ...

13 crops? Oops...I got the wrong impression from a couple of the Bloodhorse articles that I pulled up from a Search on Anabaa...saw articles about him standing in 2006 but, after reading further, I see that was just about him changing farms. Lesson? Read further than a headline when searching for in...

Re: TV Discussion Thread

Agreed, Coulson is a wonderful character, but I wish that some of the supporting actors had more character. There are far too many pretty youngsters...would like to see some older actors with craggy faces that show some life experience.

Re: New Conformation Photos

Nice looking horse. I know we lost Anabaa in 2009, sadly, after only a few seasons at stud. Goldikova clearly showed how good a stallion he was destined to be, but maybe Style Vendome can continue his sire's bloodline.

* I don't know if I have a "fun" topic to suggest, but I would like to compliment you on your writing skills. Grammar, spelling, punctuation and descriptive language are all exemplary. It should make your report an easy read when you are so organized and concise. * As far as subject, I don't know wh...

Re: Hollywood Park Racetrack On Grand Theft Auto 5

I had hoped that the clean slate we were given after the hack might mean the end to MC's paranoid rants...but, no such luck.
Still raving about the mobs threatening poor Trevor with bodily harm? Do you envision them breaking down the door of the announcer's booth, waving pitchforks and torches?

Re: Connecticut Court rules horses as vicious animals

* That's such a foolish ruling. If the court lets it stand, that sets a precedent for any animal to be declared vicious, just for behaving like, you know, an animal . Logic ( which the members of that court may be short on ) indicates that animals that are likely to be vicious are all predators...wi...

She joins a huge number of classy racemares that have been sold to Japan. * I have often read laments about stallions like Sunday Silence, Silver Charm, Empire Maker and I'll Have Another being sold to stand in Japan but, IMO, it's the mares we've lost that have been our breeding industry's greatest...

Other Racing: Quarters, Harness, Jumps

I seem to remember a subforum on the old site devoted to racing posts about other types of horse racing, such as harness, Quarterhorses and jumps. Is there interest in resurrecting it? * Today, jockey Chantal Sutherland-Cruze set a North American record for trotters under saddle on a 5/8 track at th...

That is wonderful news, and I wish Lady Cecil all the success in the world. One has to think that she learned a fair bit about training a horse in the years she spent at Sir Henry's side.

Re: Pennsylvania Derby (G2)

"Why would the result of this race mean anything compared to that one? " Context. Guillot claims that it took an electric shocker to make Will Take Charge run fast enough to beat his horse, Moreno. After WTC soundly defeated Moreno in the PA Derby ( and I presume that WTC's jockey was under close o...
