Same. I went to a birthday party. Checked in when I got home and the feed was down and the announcement was on the foal patrol site.lurkey mclurker wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 12:08 amWow, that was fast! I looked in on her a couple of hours ago and she was all muddy & dozy, tail unwrapped, just like every other day this week.![]()

Re: 2019 Foals
Lassofthemohicans delivered a filly. The live feed is down, but according to the foal patrol page, they will be back up after they " ensure the foal is receiving adequate antibodies to stay healthy. We will share the birth video and photo updates soon. "

Re: Sad state of breeding
I've been lurking for a while after taking a (several year) hiatus from posting, but this is a subject near and dear to my heart. I totally concur with the original assessment. I feel like we are seeing the effect of bad breeding practices. The American thoroughbred industry needs to enact some stan...

Re: Matings 2015
Anyone know what mares Americain got over in Ireland? Given the fact the deal wasn't announced by Irish National Stud until the third week of January, I can't imagine he did very well. Calumet Farm has been sending Irish trainer Delmot Weld a increasing number of two year olds...so the farm seems i...

Re: 2015 Belmont Stakes News & Notes
What's with the growing circle of people liking Madefromlucky? I think his Peter Pan win made some forget about the Ark Derby. I guess if you think the 1 1/2 and Belmont track will help move him up 10 lengths or Pharoah backward that much? On my chart, he's 2nd. His pedigree suggests he'd like the ...

There ARE some good comments on the Bloodhorse article. For example: The Bid •6 hours ago BLAME should be NEXT!!!! Fred Lyon> The Bid •5 hours ago No! He already screwed her once... Someone on facebook said the same thing. I think that is too much Kris S. You want a horse that is trainable. Have a ...

Re: Zenyatta News
Bloodhorse just posted the story on facebook today. Of course, there were the crazies there, saying that it should be "illegal" to breed them every year. I threw out the fact about wild horses again, and the best response was, "so, you're saying wild horses don't (gasp) have safe sex?!? In addition,...

Wonder if any of them follow the wild horse herds. They'd be appalled at the mares having foals EVERY YEAR. Those poor things, out there in those rough conditions, pregnant all the time...they probably think the BLM roundups are good things! I'm hoping that this foal is as beautiful as Z Prin...

Re: Sheikh Hamdan: U.S. TC Too Much Pressure
I agree that a Triple Crown is attainable, but not as long as we are breeding to sell and not necessarily breeding to race. This obsession with speedy, precocious horses that peak at two has got to stop. Breed a durable racehorse that wants to run longer than 9 furlongs and you'll see a Triple Crown...

She is! You're very lucky to be able to ride. I had a horse many years ago, but that was when I lived at home, and my grandparents had a farm, so there were no boarding fees!

What could be interesting is if AP wins the Triple Crown, while California Chrome wins at Ascot, comes back, wins the Arlington Million, and then beats AP in the BCC. If all of those things happen, who has the edge?

Re: How have Derby winners done as sires?
They were only unfashionable because they couldn't consistently sire good foals. They all got a chance in Kentucky, some longer than others. They all got at least some decent mares during their first couple years at stud. I couldn't name more than a few of each stallions foals though and I've follo...

Re: How have Derby winners done as sires?
All of that talk makes me wonder what could've been if Swale hadn't died. Slew was a sire of sires, for sure, and it would've been interesting to see how Swale would've done. Also sad to see how many good horses were too "unfashionable" to stay in Kentucky. Most of my faves (Sunny's Halo, Go for Gin...

Re: Fantasy Belmont: Which of the Derby/Preakness horses win
I didn't see Spectacular Bid or Pleasant Colony race. I did my pedigree analysis and then looked at their form heading into the Belmont. The pedigree stuff hurt Sunday Silence and Charismatic the most. The form (which factors in margin of victory) hurt Silver Charm, Sunday Silence, and Real Quiet. I...

Re: Early Thoughts - Belmont Winner
I'll get started on my chart soon. From a pedigree standpoint, Tale of Verve and Mubtaahij are bred to run long, but Tale of Verve is going to be WAY off the pace and that rarely works in the Belmont unless the pace is just absolutely murderous. I may still play him under in exotics, but I don't thi...
