Re: Horrible Names For Horses

The name also ruins a superb naming history on Slimey's dam side. It started with Oratorio (bred to Verbatim, no less) five generations back and continued through Right Word, Words of War and Verbal to Slimey's dam, Argue. Has Argue had other female foals to race that have had names more in keeping...

Re: Bramlage's Mongolian Groom report

The Bloodhorse article failed to include the fact that Bramlage found a “pre-existing injury in MG ‘s left hind. There was a stress fracture in cannon bone. In fact, both cannon bones. ??????? The first paragraph of the BH article says (bolding mine): "Mongolian Groom, who suffered a fatal injury i...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

There are few things the equestrian community likes more than infighting about whether or not a horse is in pain due to X tack or discipline. Not infighting about equine biomechanics on a racehorse forum/Horses with unique coloring/facial markings, LOL, just an observation. And as noted above, I sa...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

I have noted that you don't like my avatar, and it's ok. Now please come back to the topic. Thank you. Actually, I said I was in pain looking at it, LOL. The interpretation is a function of education, and that's OK, too. I understand why you might find it attractive. We are all here because we enjo...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Cisco - forgive me for this, but your avatar is painful to look at. That poor horse has his neck forced so short (he can't use it as a balancing rod properly) and his mouth is gaping because he's pulling against the bit trying to get his neck out. It is awful. I don't want to argue about this but p...

Glad to see Bim Bam made it to retirement, graded stakes placed, and faced the likes of Jackson Bend and Paddy O'Prado over the course of his very long career.

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

I ain’t afraid of no long eared rodent. Rabbits are lagomorphs, not rodents. Thank you for the correction but literal correctness was not my goal. On our little farm we do battle, to various degrees, with various four-limbed creatures consisting of mice, rats, rabbits and squirrels. I refer to them...

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

Omaha Beach cruised home in the Malibu, carrying Mike Smith to the head of the line in G1 wins. OB, with 3 G1s a G2 and runner-up in the BC will be getting some votes for 3YO, I forgot who it is that's suppose to win that award. Max is supposed to win. I suspect that isn't entirely literal.

Re: New Stallions of 2020

$6500 is laughable. The fact he isn't available for trail rides for $50 bucks an hour is what's laughable. He wasn't either sound enough or athletic enough (never knew which it was with him, probably both at some point) to be a trail horse, although your point is taken. Other than that, he did have...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

I've mentioned this before in the black thoroughbreds thread but from what I've seen researching black horses Europe seems to want to register everything that isn't chestnut as bay. No dark bay/brown or even brown, absolutely no black. There definitely aren't many horses registered as black in Euro...

Just checked sunset/sunrise in Lima, Peru these days, there's 13 hours of daylight. Perhaps that is what saved the other stallions. . .

Re: Stallion News

Excuse me, it's not theme of economy. Most people think that it has been a revenge, I'm included. A few years ago the same thing happened with another horse, Drilling For Oil. People here are devastated with this. Here we take care of a little we have, but there are always undesirable people who ha...

I actually agree with West on some level, if Stronach wants to make a statement about aftercare, he should make a statement out of his own pocket. That being said, I don't begrudge aftercare any penny they get.

Maybe they were counting on owners to have some semblance of a conscience and not run their horses in Saudi frickin' Arabia? While murder/dismemberment/etc. are heinous*, Dubai is not exactly Disneyworld, either. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-48843168 *although not rising to a level of...

Re: Older Horses - 2019

TWO races ago (Pacific Classic - 8/17), War Story was in Looch's silks. The owner change happened between then and the Greenwood Cup (10/5) at Parx where he was still with Navarro (Parx is less than 100 miles from Monmouth where Navarro has space. . . ). The trainer change came after that into this ...
