Re: Percentage of Backstretch workers in US illegally

It seems clear that most of the backside workers in California have roots south of the border, but is that also true in New York? What about barns in Kentucky? Or at Emerald Downs? It's a transient lifestyle, and they ship from place to place. I cannot speak for NY or EmD, but I would venture to gu...

Re: Taking Shergar

So you're a softie for people who steal innocent animals and cruelly slaughter them to make some weird political point and to try to extort money from the animal's owners? Nope, that was just me amusing myself. I have many times been called anything but a softie, even *gasp* on this forum. Not your...

For what it's worth, I'm with you. I'm all for justice, in this life or the next. But I find such wishes unbecoming, even if I understand the sentiment.

I'm probably just a softie, though.

Re: Foals of 2016

This was posted last week to the Journeyman Stud twitter feed: @JourneymanStud I was just told by someone who is in touch with Coolmore in Ireland that Royal Delta is in foal to Galileo and doing well. for a 16 or 17 foal? First preg check would be at 15 days. If that was posted last week, she woul...

Yes. His names always give me a chuckle.
Shouldn't you capitalize that? Only seems fitting.

Thanks Som... that one looks like it'll work. The stuff I ordered from amazon looked good too. One of those will do it I think! What did you order? Curious. This stuff: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J2N8LAC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 I'll be interested to know what you...

Well, the mare in question does appear to be very much in foal. According to the foaling sheet at the farm, she is expecting a Fort Prado baby in the next week or so. I guess someone just didn't get all their work done over at Buck Pond?
Very possible. They've had some turnover.

I'm with Tbird. Most correct naturally. Except in extreme cases, you really don't know what you have until they're 30 days old, and there is little point in making an assessment in the first day or two unless you've got something that needs veterinary intervention. I wouldn't even consider that foal...

JC does not show her as having been bred. I don't know what happens if she WAS bred and no one reported it. It is the stallion owner's responsibility to do that. It does she she was bred to Senor Swinger for 2015, but no foal. The stallion owner/manager just adds her to the Report of Mares Bred wit...

Re: Beyer Figures have jumped the shark

It's an event everyone should attend at least once; more if they so desire. I've been more than once, but I have no real desire to go back unless I have a horse in the race. I'm don't think I'm jaded or burnt out at all. Working the Derby is real work. It's no picnic. I don't blame Beyer at all, and...

I know some care. I'm sorry that I offended some by saying that no one cares, but I'm very angry about what happened to so many horses. It's okay. Fire is a terrible thing, and one of the tragedies that haunts me the most. In fairness to others, if I hadn't seen a tweet from (I think) Dawn Lupul th...

Loved how Northern Dancer fooled around in the video. Whoah, Halo has a presence about him. I know he usually wore a muzzle cause he liked to bite. But was he that "vile" and hated humans in general? He doesn't seem like that in the video. Certainly he looks very strong willed, but I wonder w...
