@ Winbak Farm Not a thoroughbred, but check out this standardbred colt by Bettor's Delight , out of Makes You Wonder (Jenna's Beach Boy). Someone in the comments suggested the name "Roman Knows". https://scontent-dfw5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/56548135_2593255024081851_4675083846000050176_n.jpg?_nc_c...

After watching the races today nobody can say that they haven't made changed to the main track. When's the last time a SA Derby was won in 1:51? And an impressive 1:51.
Gormley won it in 1:51.16 in 2017. Admittedly a not very impressive one.

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Also, LosAl has no turf course, so maybe half the races Santa Anita cards would not be run. That means half the racing stock sitting in the barn...or shipping out of town. Hard times for all the backstretch workers and vendors. :( They could send the turf horses to GGF. Nothing is impossible. I see...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

He is. It's funny that some of these very well bred horses end up in hunt country. Funny Cide's 1/2 brother was at Shawan years ago. There were several Tapit's yesterday. One of them won though I can't remember who it was. It's nice to see them turn up out there because it's a great place for photo...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

It's interesting that both his sire and dam are plain bays with just small stripes. Wonder where his color came from? Wasn't Southern Phantom like that? I mean, came from parents with relatively little white? I know Bodemeister has a stocking but still. Bodemeister has a big wide blaze as well. He ...

Re: The Rebel Parts I and II

I have a genuine question about the use of whips. I understand that a whip needs to be carried because you need it to control the horse if it begins putting itself, the rider and possibly the rest of the field in danger (e.g. coming across into the path of another horse). But does whipping a horse ...

Re: Stallion News

It kills me that Einstein wasn't loved by breeders. He was a really good racehorse on any surface, raced through ( IIRC ) his seventh year and retired sound, handsome as heck and had a good temperament. Also provided an interesting outcross with his Spend a Buck bloodline. I think he's only 16 or 1...

Wonder where we can find recent pictures of Sea Hero. If there are any.

Is he still around?
He is still alive but was pensioned in 2015 so I don't think there are any recent photos of him online.

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

It could also be that they just did not register the paint marked foals. Back in the "old days" horses with lots of white (particularly white legs, or with blue eyes) were considered to be less sound or less quality and so the horses that were perhaps minimally expressed frame overo or sabino didn'...

10yo h Vedelago (Red Clubs - Queen Shy, by Marju), 1st at Turfway Park (3/2/19). 50 - 13-5-6, $512,071.
How did an Irish-bred Italian G1 winner wind up in $5k claiming races at Turfway? And intact, no less.
