Re: Stallion News

Based on my visit to Ashford last year, there's a WHOLE lot of people who could buy the "American Pharaoh didn't bite ME!" T-shirts . :-).

BTW I don't believe it either, but it it's true. . .kinda weird. :x

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Why didn't Baffert just use those nasal strips like Doug O'Neill? Do they look too dorky? :!:

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Let me say this again. The CHRB found that Justify was the winner of the SA Derby and this entitled to the points. So you all want Kentucky to say "Oh, we disagree, so we're going to DQ him (even if there is no mechanism for retroactively recalculating points) and declare a new winner.". What's to s...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

He won't be disqualified. The governing body (CHRB) had that power with respect to the SA Derby, and they did not exercise it. I don't see how Kentucky can make a contrary decision. You can't have every jurisdiction making an independent review of a case determined elsewhere. Did the CHRB run scared...

Bast [Unclo Mo x Laffina] was mighty impressive in the Del Mar Debutante winning by 8 3/4 lengths over Inspiressa
Yup. I believe they said she's out of an Arch mare. No wonder she ran down Inspiressa, who beat her easily at 5 1/2 but has a pedigree that starts gasping thereafter.

I'd much rather cremate an animal than chop it up and just bury bits and pieces!

Summer Bird posted above. Very impressive--is Eight Rings still superior as they stretch out? Watch this space! (I'm going to Del Mar for the Futurity--love the relaxed vibe and the chance to see a really good two year old. Thinking about the problematical Other Baffert, Garth.)

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Kingly (Tapit x Justwhistledixie) won the La Jolla at Del Mar. He's a full to Mohaymen and half to New Year's Day. That's quite the distaff line. The mare has been a nice producer for sure. Was it Kingly's first start on turf? Yes, although he'd won a minor stakes on synthetic. He's no worldbeater ...

Immediate Impact made just that in the first at Del Mar, a MSW for juveniles. She's Arrogate's half sister by Into Mischief. Won for fun.

PETA and its tool the Los Angeles Times won't care that this could easily have happened in a pasture. IIRC one of Zenyatta's foals suffered a fatal injury in a paddock collision.
