Re: New Stallions of 2020
Oh, I'm not saying there aren't much more attractive prospects even at $2000 or that the world needs his genes. (Love the comment about flying lead changes.) But it's the pricing that is ludicrous.

Re: Older Horses - 2019
Mexican Triple Crown winner Kukulkan , who has encountered some stiffer competition since moving to the U.S., won the Copa Confraternidad del Caribe Stakes at Gulfstream this afternoon (12/8/19) with Irad Ortiz on board. Even though his impressive win streak came to a crashing conclusion in the Peg...

If he were offered at $2000 I don't think there would have been much criticism other than shrugs and "meh.".

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018
Short fields and all, it's an accomplishment to win five in a row as Baffert did at Los Alamitos, including both stakes and a powerful run by juvenile Ra'ad (Twirling Candy), who ran behind Futurity winner Thousand Words in the mutual debut.

Both came back after being challenged; Anneau d'or appeared to pass Thousand Words but the latter re-rallied. Bast led all the way and turned back heavily favored Donna Veloce.ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 8:47 pmBaffert swept the 2yo stakes at Los Al: Bast in the Starlet (G1) and Thousand Words in the Los Al Futurity (G2).

Re: California Chrome to Japan
Of course they have every right to make this business decision, but after all the "People's Horse" stuff (including getting God knows how many Chromies to pay for "special" status), it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm just glad my friend (one of those people) and I got to see him last year.

Re: PETA Is A Bully
I recently googled "wild horse mortality rates" just for fun. Of course the BLM says that activists overstate rates in order to argue that the wild horses should be protected; activists claim that the BLM lowballs rates to justify culling and capture. But the various estimates run up to 50% foal mor...

Re: Stallion News
I think something like this here in Kentucky would be nice, they used to do this in years past, but now with the horse farm tours that charge to visit the farms, I doubt they would do this again. Our family used to go and it was nice to visit the farms and see our heroes. Not everything has to cost...

Danon Pharaoh, AP x MGSW Crisp (exported in utero) broke his maiden in his second start in Japan. Sorry, got this from Coolmore on FB and don't remember the track!

Well, dang. Was hoping he would race another year. Racing Post @RacingPost Thunder Snow , the only dual winner of the Dubai World Cup i can guarantee it, no one remembers him for that reason, lol. granted, the real reason we remember him isn't what you'd use to advertise your horse   I t...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?
I turned to the man next to me and gave him the line from the Jack Nicholson/Shirley McClaine film "Terms of Endearment," where Jack is trying to slide out of any relationship with Shirley and doesn't quite make it--he says with a sickly grin something like "One step away from a clean getaway." The ...

I almost hate to say this, but on TVG a week or so ago they were saying some incredible things about Michael Dickinson's current version of Tapeta (Tapeta 10) in use at Woodbine and in the U.K. I just Googled it and the fatality statistics are so much lower than on dirt that maybe we need to take an...

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again
No, it's media blood lust pure and simple, and a prosecutor wanting news time. The Los Angeles Times can't be bothered to print SA entries but yesterday--before this came out--they printed a pointless photo of the "protesters." We can only hope a priest sex scandal pulls them off the scent.
