Re: Bramlage's Mongolian Groom report

I remember when I broke my hip they weren't even sure from Xrays that there WAS a fracture (although my screaming in pain whenever my leg moved could have been a clue) and they had to do an MRI to be sure. In a perfect world--heck, even in a less imperfect world--trainers would at least be doing the...

Still Living c. Paynter x J Z Now Point of Light c. Noble Mission x Rena Cairo Beauty f. American Pharoah x Everlasting Beauty "Still Living"--following Paynter's struggles was almost as bad as Barbaro. I remember one day Justin Zayat's tweets seemed to be leading inevitably to euthanasia.

Re: Bramlage's Mongolian Groom report

Lots to think about there. I don't assume that Dr. Bramlage is writing in a truly impartial voice, but it seems obvious that detecting lameness--and the risk of false positives--is not a simple analysis.

Re: Keeneland January

Yeah, I was cringing at the lack of interest for decently bred mares in foal to decent stallions. I admit I can't see gross conformation flaws. I kept wanting to raise my hand!

Re: Is American Pharoah a turf sire

American Theorem is back galloping and should breeze soon. ;)

I think AP will do just fine with dirt runners. . . although he did have another turf MSW winner today at SA! (Phast Pharoah.)

Caminetto--that name rang a bell--$500,000 purchase for Baffert. :( Hope he finds a soft landing.

It's definitely dirt, but visibly different from the main track.

And sometimes fractures just happen. I remember when I was running the LA Marathon being creeped out by the story of a runner (jogger) who fractured a femur during the race.

She was antsy in the saddling barn and then they ...

Re: Favorite Horses of the Decade (2009/10 - 2019/20)

Game on Dude's Santa Anita Handicap was superlative but he couldn't repeat at the BC. That said, I loved seeing him at Old Friends, even if Little Mike was the paddock boss.

Z insofar as she qualifies, and AP.

Oh, I'm not saying there aren't much more attractive prospects even at $2000 or that the world needs his genes. (Love the comment about flying lead changes.) But it's the pricing that is ludicrous.

Mexican Triple Crown winner Kukulkan , who has encountered some stiffer competition since moving to the U.S., won the Copa Confraternidad del Caribe Stakes at Gulfstream this afternoon (12/8/19) with Irad Ortiz on board. Even though his impressive win streak came to a crashing conclusion in the Peg...

Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2018

Short fields and all, it's an accomplishment to win five in a row as Baffert did at Los Alamitos, including both stakes and a powerful run by juvenile Ra'ad (Twirling Candy), who ran behind Futurity winner Thousand Words in the mutual debut.
