Re: Older Horses - 2019

Thunder Snow will not be running in the BC Classic this fall, unfortunately. Sounds like his connections are going to let him rest and then gear up for a go at a third World Cup victory. If he happens to successfully prep in that $20 million Saudi Cup, his lifetime earnings are going to be ridiculo...

Pierre Lapin - 2017 c. Capella Sansevero X Beatrix Potter, by Cadeaux Genereaux. He is a half brother to G1 winning sprinter Harry Angel, and he won the G3 Mill Reef Stakes today, just as Harry Angel did.

Beatrix Potter wrote the Peter Rabbit storybooks.

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

You never know what gems are hiding in those thousand dollar babies. Lots of pedigree variety, would make a nice broodmare band probably. Weird knowing that I can go to keeneland right now and be able to afford one of these guys. What would I do with him afterwards though? Whenever I see an old fav...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

Hip # 2146 .. a Colt (Summer Front-On the Menu), sold for one thousand. Was that the low price of the session? :? Summer Front X No Such Word (G1 winner) RNA'd for $1,000 - definitely not a good advertisement for the stallion. There were 2 other horses besides Summer Front X On the Menu sold for $1...

Re: Matings 2019

I still cannot believe that Lord Kanaloa covered 294 mares in 2018. At least that number went down in 2019, even in the absence of Deep Impact. I wonder if, after the issues of Deep Impact and his neck, we'll see Shadai more evenly distributing at least some of the mares that they own in 2020. Or if...

Re: The Pennsylvania Derby Saturday

I was wondering...HOW do you get the colon/spleen un-entrapped? It didn't sound like he had surgery, so does the vet manipulate the intestines from outside the body? :? Pretty much what Katmandu said, lots of jogging and walking, a dose of banamine and hoping everything just settles back in...

Devil - 2017 c. Siyouni X Burma Sea, by Lope de Vega.

Nice looking up and comer owned by the Wertheimers... the name isn't even a play on words, or that clever I guess... but what does one have to do to earn such a moniker?

Honestly if I have to pick who to believe between Vice President Conversion Therapy or a horse... I'd go with the horse.

The Racing Gods may have smiled on Bayern in that BC Classic, but apparently the Breeding Gods haven't.

Re: Racing in Dubai Sale - September 2019

I am curious as to what makes these guys "unsuitable for breeding in the UAE." What breeding is there in the UAE anyway? Also I was under the impression Godolphin had a generally good retraining/rehoming program. I saw an article last year about how some of their runners have gone on to be horses f...

Re: Racing in Dubai Sale - September 2019

I know Godolphin usually uses UAE horses in training sales as one of their outlet to sell younger (ie. 5 and under) horses who aren't making the grade, with plenty going on to have success at Meydan and other local UAE tracks. However, it is really disappointing to see horses 7+ years old and/or not...

I was lucky to tune in to the livestream right as the charity race was being run. It was really wonderful and emotional watching everyone come together for such a good cause, and to see such legendary jockeys back in the saddle. I even got in on the action myself and bought Sea the Stars' saddleclot...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Mogul (IRE) (Galileo/Shastye), a full brother to Japan, etc., broke his maiden in the first race on the card at the Curragh today. Mogul just won the Juvenile S (G2) at Leopardstown. He looks really talented. I wonder what path Coolmore will take with him. The race was a WAYI for the BC, but there ...

I hope the track will be sealed for them to run! When our... vertically challenged dogs run around in our arena after we ride, a deep hoofprint in the sand can cause quite the pile up!
