His retirement is really on brand with his entire career.

Too bad, hopefully he can make a full recovery.

Re: Report: Zayat Sued for $23 Million, Sold Shares in American Pharoah

Man, this guy has been on the brink of bankruptcy for 10 years. I get that 1% of the owners actually make money in this sport, but how can the owner of stallions like Pioneerof the Nile, American Pharoah, Bodemeister, etc. still be living in the red. Is he still active at any of the yearling sales?

Zarkava ---> Shamardal

Racing Post announced.
The stallions that the Aga Khan has chosen for Zarkava is to me, the standard for consistent and diverse top class pairings. Honestly, it's kind of surprising she has thrown only one group one winner.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Pedigree Query claims New Year's Day was bought by Shadai. When it was announced a Japanese buyer purchased him from Brazil, the buyer was kept confidential. If it was Shadai, why would they want to be confidential? Also he's not on their site (last I checked). It's been not so confidential that Sh...

Re: Well-known racehorses who went on to second careers

2012 winner of the G1 Prix Morny and G1 Middle Park Stakes, Reckless Abandon was retired at the end of his three year old season to Darley Ireland. He proved to be infertile and was returned to training in 2014 with Charlie Appleby without much of a splash. He is now retrained as a polo pony! https:...

Does War Front have special shoes on in the front? His hooves look strange to me for some reason.
It's hard to tell. Besides Algorithms, none of the Claiborne stallions pictured really seem to have heels, they look really flat footed in front.

I'm not concerned about his safety as a stallion in Korea, but after seeing how blasé the Korean racing industry is about how they dispose of the 90% of their horses that aren't at the elite level... bleh. His progeny better be fast.

Re: Stallion News

Have to say, I am not a big fan of the barrier at the front of that quarantine stall. First off, wood should never be used in a quarantine facility. It is incredibly difficult to truly disinfect it compared to concrete, metal, plastic, etc. Second, those bars look just wide enough apart to allow a ...

Re: Is American Pharoah a turf sire

Coolmore was built on stallions who could sire runners on turf and dirt. They pioneered it by importing sons of Northern Dancer to win on the turf and stand in Ireland. Then their top American based stallions like Giant's Causeway and Scat Daddy have proved to be able to sire winners on any surface ...

He has lovely, very looooong legs. His back is a bit long and his neck on the shorter side, but he looks like a very nice boy. Kind of like a Whippet.

Re: Stallion News

There were a bunch of horses killed a couple years ago in South Florida and they had chunks of flesh taken out of them in a manner that looked like they were taken for meat. Almost all were more in the lawn ornament category (pets, family trail horses), though the case of Debbie Stevens' grand prix ...
