Noooo..... I'm gutted to read this news. What gorgeous strong filly she was with the racing world in front of her. Her connections must be devastated. I know that I am.

Yes Higher Power surprised and disappointed me. Perhaps it just wasn't his day and he's alright.
Maybe no Lasix affected him.....

Edgar on a win streak!

Edgar Prado is on a win streak in the first week at Gulfstream. In 14 rides, he has had 6 wins, and his top 3 percentage is at 64%.
I don't understand why he doesn't get more rides.

Re: 2019 BC Classic

I just watched Mongolian Groom's 10/31/19 jog from XBTV. He looks awful behind, very uneven. However, some horses anticipating a gallop to come, will jig-jog and almost canter behind, but this looks more like something's catching him rather than eagerness. It would be interesting to see an earlier v...

I get where they got the name -- Lookin At Lucky - Bikini Beauty -- but it's a horrible name!

Some horses are just so tough, and keep fighting. Paynter is one of those who came back from the brink. Wishing the same for Roaring Lion.
Power up, Lion.

Thanks, WarBiscuit and Old Bones. That's sad news, indeed. Could not have been more in the public eye for the anti-racing people to get started.

Re: Equibase chart notes

I've always wondered who the chart writers are, and how you get to become a chart writer. Does the same person do all the races on the card, or are there a couple working alternate races. I imagine they use the replay to focus on each horse. Definitely seems like a really interesting job if you love...

Equibase chart notes

Many charts give the barest bones of what transpired in a race, but once in a while, you come across a real gem that clearly reflects excellent writing and care. Today, I read the chart for Belmont's 6th race as I follow Gidu (a Frankel colt) and wanted to acknowledge the commitment of this anonymou...
