Re: The VENT Thread

A quick note to the Dodgers and Yankees this morning. Take off those f'n pajamas and go get dressed for the game. https://www.apnews.com/1b4cf62cadfd4e9fb5593f29919631bd Baseball is desperate to gain attention from people who are not interested at all. It's a little embarrassing for them. I was exp...

Re: Run?

Frank Meza. 1. His splits at L.A. Marathon were consistent and he never ran a world record 5k split. Those reports are just wrong. His fastest recorded split was 19:47. That is 15 seconds faster than his second fastest 5k split. World age group record (70-74) is 18:01 by Warren Utes in 1990. Those w...

Re: 2019 Met Mile

The field isn't set yet but Game Winner and Global Campaign are both good enough to win it. I think the Belmont could be a very interesting race. Even without the mighty Country House.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

On the subject of tough dq's... At the Hardrock 100 last year French runner Xavier Thevnard was disqualified from the race for accepting aid from his own crew support team. The aid was given at a highway crossing and outside of a designated aid station. No runner aid is allowed outside of the offici...

Some of you might be too young to remember the Zapruder film. This is starting to feel a little like that to me, on a different scale of course.
As a proud Zapruder Gen myself I kind of like the irony of it.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

This is now becoming a kind of weak episode of Law And Order where we get to see the defense give one interpretation of the crime video and then the prosecution giving a completely different reading of the exact same footage...Both sides telling you what to look at and what it means... Otherwise kno...

If all that's left now is one hypothetical after another then I guess the issue is settled.

Next page; Preakness.

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

Ok. Let them play. I get it. If they are leaning on each other down the lane like Freehouse and Sliver Charm in the Preakness, or PVal and Sunday Silence keeping Day and Easy Goer on the rail after he shut them off on the back stretch... That's competition. And great history. All for it. Maximum Sec...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

No doubt WOW headed for a spot that didn't exist for long, if Borel would've ridden him he would've won the race with rail skimming ride. After watching the race again I think WOW had a lot of run in him and might well have had a say in the outcome had Gaffalione waitied a little longer for the rai...

Wait a minute this means I move up in the results.

Ok. I'm back again.

Re: Horse Racing is now officially a joke

The amount of press we are getting over this is insane. All over ESPN, morning news shows, all over talk radio, Donald Trump is commenting on it... this might not be a bad thing. The point some of us were trying to make yesterday. And much better that the attention is over an official decision rath...

just heard something interesting on local SoCal TB radio show - someone wondering if maybe they could have left the winning horse up in the Derby and just penalize the jock for the ride.
That would have been far worse.

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

I think the jurisdiction matters more than the name of the trainer. Kentucky is a 'rules are rules' state. I had a horse put up a few years back on Derby day because he was whipped across the nose. He was 2nd and trying in vain to run down the leader as there were approaching the finish line. The ho...

Wait I just realized I have no idea how to score the Derby Pool contest now. I suddenly disagree with the decision!!
I looked at it and you have one clear winner that had the trifecta.

I was wondering what would happen if you had to go to the margin of victory tie breaker?
