Re: Jockey/Trainer News - 2019

Nice article. Curtis, Looks like Alert Bay may be racing again later this year. Hovdey: Wright finds comfort in jewel of the Northwest Blaine Wright could have been forgiven if his mind had been 2,000 miles away in Kentucky, where his headline horse, Anothertwistafate , was in peaceful repose at Ch...

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

I have some very specific pedigree type angles (not gonna go into it here) and I don't see Omaha Beach winning the Derby. I like one of these horses to win: (nothing to do with exotics or bombers I will have in those) Code of Honor - ITM FL Derby, Fountain of Youth, Champagne, and his maiden (2 G1s...

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

Brisnet's PPs completely changed my perspective. I like this one particular horse from it and I would put him #1 right now over Omaha Beach. But I don't want to say his name. Don't want to hype it. I want his odds to stay in double digits. Pretty obvious if you check Brisnet's PPs which horse I'm a...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

I distinctly remember a West coast trainer going back to NY for a big race and a reporter asked " are you concerned about their no-lasix policy? And the trainer said "I'm not at all worried, they've got stuff there to take care of it, I don't even know what it is, but my horse is going to run great...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Question.... Back in the day when NYRA was the only Lasix-free track in America, what did they use instead? And please don't tell me hay, oats and water, thanks. https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1995-05-26-1995146129-story.html My daughter just presented her senior thesis on the effects of ...

He retweeted himself from 2015 as part of a larger tweet providing commentary the Bill Morley situation with the CHRB. Re: Santa Anita 2019

You'd think some of the East and Midwest trainers and owners who claim to be hay, oats and water fans would be shipping strings to SA. :( They may take advantage of the Ship and Win, deal at Del Mar where the purses are bigger and then stick around. I don’t spend a lot of time reading the condition...

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

I'm rewatching the Santa Anita Derby and I would love to see another Baffert horse / SA Derby winner win the roses like last year but Roadster was still behind over 5 lengths after they ran 1:12+. He came on strong and I knew Game Winner would get caught by him but Omaha Beach still seems speedier....

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

Some of Baffert/Roadster fans are making it seem Roadster is the next Justify or Arrogate and that he's going to win the Triple Crown. And none of the comments was from Baffert fanatic Kaye from Pennsylvania. I'm not seeing it. I think Omaha Beach and Roadster are very close in ability. We'll just ...

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

Don't ask names, but New York had some circles with exes in them. One I remember could have run up Niagara Falls in a rain squall. A grey. Now I have to remember his name. He wasn't a horse, he was a speed boat. I remember another from back in the day in Cali. Real Decision, a gray who started out ...

I think I know who you're referring to, and I totally agree. We'd never claim from him. A friend who manages a partnership that races mostly in Kentucky and Oaklawn recently claimed a young $30k horse from that trainer, despite my concerns. He looked so good on paper, and he'd been trained by Shug ...

She ran huge last year in the KY Oaks and then ate the Canadian boys for lunch in the Queens Plate - then they kept going on her. Turns out May-June ‘18 was her up-cycle. They should chill out on her and lay low, run her in some Can-bred filly and mare stakes so she can get some confidence back. If...

Wonder Gadot is feeling the effects from being nominated "Worst managed horse of the second half of 2018." The Travers was definitely a mistake, I said that at the time, but other than that, I don’t see gross mismanagement. She was put in an AOC off the lay-off and was probably a little short not w...

His daddy, Proud Clarion, won the Derby. I think Bold Clarion was Mandella's first SW as trainer.
That is correct at one of the No. CA fairs, I believe.
