Re: New Stallions of 2020

I LIKED Solomini. He was mis managed early on in his career, and being a bit of a head case, that is never good for that kind of horse. that, combined with the fact that we don't do so well with *stayers* here in the U.S. some of these true distance types end up running in a lot of races that are n...

Atta girl!
A bit of a gift of a trip for the best filly in the race. Obviously, Javi can read past performances and seized command from the get-go.
When she went 49 and change for the 1/2, I was wishing I had loaded up on the 3/5 that became 7/5 after the break.

Re: Go East Old Man

Thanks, the fact you're so much older than I am really comes in handy here! I was a kid when I saw Majestic Prince win the Santa Anita Derby. Everything from that point forward is legend and when legend becomes fact, always print the legend.😉 1962 cashed my first ticket ever @ HP.....was a stooper,...

Re: Go East Old Man

I’ll also add that a lot of this is artificial. I suspect you’ll see some 10k claiming races at Santa Anita littered with 8k claimers.

Re: Go East Old Man

Interesting sidenote......."they" voted for a $10,000 minimum on claimers. I don't get that to be honest. What good does that do? To "ensure" a certain quality of the races? I've seen many exciting low level races in my lifetime and many boring G1s. If it's to protect horses, I call BS on that one....

Re: Asmussen handed 30 day suspension

oh also, further outlining the problems in this sport...Asmussen has been GRANTED a STAY of suspension What's wrong with that? Gives the public the perception that the industry doesn't care and is too lenient..if the NFL,NBA or MLB suspends a player it's usually effective immediately..they can appe...

Re: The Cigar Mile

I kind of like Pat On the Back. He's on a roll. He was third in his last start. Guess I forgot. But he's been running well in general and if I was able to bet I would like the odds the 3rd offered me. He does seem to alternate 3rds with 1sts lately. Based on that Saturday is “Go” Time. You’ll get s...

Re: Asmussen handed 30 day suspension

If a horse can't be trained without a sedative, then maybe they don't need to be in training for racing, no matter how fast they might be. How do you train yours? I have excellent riders who can handle anything I throw them on. My friend races her horses with a zero tolerance drug policy..if she fo...

So you don’t believe in that old 3rd at odds on in a state bred race to a Grade 1 angle?

Re: Horrible Names For Horses

I hate it when the horse is named Mr. or Ms. or Mrs something but they leave off the period, case in point new stakes winner Mr Dumas. Really? My Pop used to say there are some people that would complain if “Ya hung ‘em with a new rope.” Ben Franklin lamented about the lack of a nail, now, I guess ...

Re: Go East Old Man

Looks like Santa Anita will have a tough time filling dirt races this winter and early spring. The racing will just further atrophy. Someone will fill those races. Maybe they’ll card 4.5f races and watch their backs when Doc Allred comes around. Two graded stakes were won by former claimers over th...

Re: Asmussen handed 30 day suspension

Asmussen is appealing the ruling, saying he had the ace given way outside of recommended timeframes, and that the cutoff levels were reflective of IV use, not oral, which is how most backstretch vets use it, and that the residual metabolites were inert and had no effect on race day. He is taking a ...
