Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Headshot of the Holy Roman Emperor filly. She's my favorite now. https://scontent-dfw5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/60204290_2621601001202462_2981210729425666048_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-2.xx&oh=0eae63eaa46310118a60c27916db3abf&oe=5D6FA078 https://www.facebook.com/KBLthroughbreds/photos/a....

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

So, if you're running Pimlico or Belmont right now -- what's coming down the pipeline? Two guaranteed (generally) good turnout days may be heavily impacted because the Derby DQ won't run, and the Derby winner is sick. You have no TC to fuel anything, not even any sort of 'can Country House stamp him...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

just heard something interesting on local SoCal TB radio show - someone wondering if maybe they could have left the winning horse up in the Derby and just penalize the jock for the ride. That would have been far worse. Also, Saez gave a fantastic ride in spite of the spook. He got his spooking hors...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Can't help but think about horses who have been really effed over by the 20 horse fields -- Afleet Alex and Curlin somewhat come to mind, and lots others who get banged and cut off -- and this only drives it home more. That was scary AF at the top of the stretch, and everyone scrambling for the lead...

Re: 'Categories' of Stewards Rules, TIF Discussion

Yeahhhhh girl you barking up the wrong tree. Organization is not what racing in the USA wants to get behind. Oh, lmao, of course. It's a 'take your medicine' sort of situation, though I know you know that. Feel like racing is getting to a place where we're going to have to take a big leap or let ou...

'Categories' of Stewards Rules, TIF Discussion

I stumbled across this today, from November 2018. Seemed awfully timely and maybe worth discussion? https://racingthinktank.com/reports/tif-reports-changing-rules This especially blasted me right in the face: Among the primary flaws with the Category 2 philosophy, clear-cut winners can be demoted fo...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/233499/wests-reaction-to-maximum-securitys-dq This guy seems like a down to earth dude. West said while he hadn't seen the replay, he initially doubted an appeal would be filed of the stewards' decision that left his first-place finisher in 17th. A li...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

I realize now as I emerge from the post-DQ haze that I may have blacked out a little when the decision came down. Despite the two TC winners in the last 4 years, there's still a 10 year old girl in there who is devastated about War Emblem losing the Belmont. Whew. I went straight to fury at the pote...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

I agree something wild happened, and horses were thrown off -- but I don't think it changes the results. Not like this, at least. I am livid. It was terrifying. It was a big spook. Luis did everything in his power to straighten him out. Country House certainly wasn't going to win it. I just can't be...

Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Country House's connections SAID ON LIVE TELEVISION that they weren't that impeded. And now somehow that makes them the winner?

I feel like I'm going to throw up. The best horse won here. I don't feel like history will look kindly on this event.

Racing needs a centralized governing body.

Re: Maryland, My Oh My, Maryland

I would rather see them invest that money in, you know, reinvigorating the neighborhoods around Pimlico than saving a track that doesn't need to be saved. I asked my Baltimore-area family about this on a recent visit -- they would all rather see infrastructure, community support, and opportunity imp...

Re: $mall Investment Partnership$

In the radio interview I heard, it mentioned that for the $100 buy-in you probably won't get Hollendorfer's phone number to discuss things with him, but they did say the winners circle was large enough to accommodate a crowd. I, for one, will never ever forget my first time there, memory of a lifet...

Congrats, Bal! You look so magnificently classy in that wedding photo. LOVE the veil! My happiness is that I'm working on a small veggie and berry farm for the summer. 8 hours in the sun and dirt. I'm sore and tired and just got my first gnarly sunburn of the season. I am incandescently happy. Offic...

The results are in! Congrats to Insane Crazy , who absolutely knocked it out of the park with 60 of the 65 possible points! Re: The movie thread

I love a really solid horror film and can get exceedingly picky about my choices. Get Out was something above and beyond. A truly magnificent first showing for a director and IMO a game changer for the genre, or at least a subset of it. Can't wait for more from Jordan Peele. On the other hand, I am ...
