Re: Derby Point Races 2018

Has a Derby winner ever come from this track?
Yes, last year Always Dreaming in addition to Super Saver and Street Sense in years past.
Way back when champion Slew O Gold finished 3rd in the Sam F Davis.

Wildcat Heir euthanized due to colic: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/89429/top-florida-sire-wildcat-heir-euthanized Very Sad, and a tough loss for Florida breeders too. With Put it Forward, Graeme Hall moving on recently it leaves a gap in proven stallions for Florida. Hopefully Tw...

Re: 2014 Queen's Plate stakes

Hard to believe anybody would be foolish enough to sell her for only $400,000. She was already worth six figures as a broodmare alone at that point and with her being bred for longer distances and all the big money races/longer races just being around the corner. It's very easy to say this after th...

He ran second in a GRADE ONE on dirt and just WON the Blue Grass, life is short, you would be a fool not to run if the horse is ok.

Re: Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3)

In the case of the race, Tampa has just gone through at least 4 straight days of at times torrential rain. I live in Tampa. You can label a track whatever you want. Quirky if you want. There is no way that track was truly a fast track. On the surface, maybe. I was outside most of Saturday and I cou...

Pletcher's lightly raced stallion prospects

With the retirement of Corfu I thought of the many recent stallions that were trained by Pletcher that have been added to the stallion ranks. How would you rank their prospects at stud, and do fault them for their fragility or do you blame it on "the program".

Re: Stallion News

He could have been a good source of stamina and a nice outcross for all the Mr. P and A.P. Indy bloodlines if he had stood at stud here. Never would have happened in a million years, though. Todays breeders have small greedy shortsighted brains. They don't realize why we still revere the great bree...

Re: 2014 Stallion Fees

Raison d'Etat might get 25 mares if he was in Indiana for $2000 LF. It seems many farms have gone from the usual twice as much to triple what the stud fee should be. I guess breeding race horses is very profitable, almost a sure thing.
