Re: 2020 Hall of Fame Nominees

I hear you, and honestly I wasn't a huge fan of Dan either- I just think his aggregate G1s and multiple HOTY titles put him in there by default. We all have our favorite horses and I don't want to be too harsh on the Dude (probably shouldn't have said I saw no argument for him), he certainly wouldn...

Re: 2020 Hall of Fame Nominees

PPs of HoF nominees here: https://www.drf.com/news/wise-dan-and-game-dude-top-hall-fame-ballot Looking through them, I really don't see an argument for anyone besides Wise Dan. We're going to hit some fun years pretty soon though- American Pharoah, California Chrome, Arrogate, Shared Belief (not su...

Re: Top Ten Lists 2020 Kentucky Derby

Since California Chrome, the last 6 horses who crossed the finish line first (can't say winner because Maximum Security got DQ'd) all had tactical speed. Even I'll Have Another had tactical speed. Animal Kingdom and Orb weren't deep closers. You are right about that. This is why, although I'm a fan...

Re: The Saudi cup

He seems very...fragile?

How did he even make it through the spring o his 3 yr old season? It seems like he needs a ton of time off in between his races bc he has no energy/loses weight/is hurt after each one.

Re: 2020 Hall of Fame Nominees

Count me in as one of those who has HUGE respect for Da Dude. 8-) He was so good, for so long...and still never came home with what IMHO would have been a well-deserved Eclipse for Older Male. He is an example of how there may be too much importance placed on the BC races. He won three 'Big Caps,' ...

Re: 2020 Hall of Fame Nominees

The 2007 Belmont is one of my favorite races of all time, but Rags shouldn't be in the HOF. In fact, out of those horses I'd probably only vote for Wise Dan. The rest are cool horses and fan favorites, but I wouldn't really consider them legends of the sport. That being said, racing's Hall of Fame ...

Re: 2020 Hall of Fame Nominees

Game on Dude is probably one of the most talented horses on the list and no one picks him. Poor dude could never and still can't get respect.

Obviously all these horses are talented and have done something special to be on this list, so maybe I'm biased.

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

West also questioned the decision to take 2% of the total purse for the Pegasus and the GI Pegasus Turf Invitational S. and donate it to aftercare. He believes The Stronach Group should be making a donation that does not affect the purse. “If The Stronach Group cares so much about horse aftercare, ...

Re: Favorite Horses of the Decade (2009/10 - 2019/20)

Zenyatta Frankel California Chrome (when he was older, I really loved that he wasn't retired) Black Caviar Shared Belief  Looking at that list, they all have something in common... they were around longer than for one season. Generally don't care about Justify, Arrogate etc. Runner Ups would b...

Game on Dude. I will always love that horse and I thought he was something people look back and admire, and he never really got a lot of recognition (or it seemed like he didn't).

Gun Runner is another one and I am sure more will come to me!

Re: Stormy Liberal gets trainer switch

Nothing good can come from Stormy Liberal continuing to race. But oh so much can go wrong. Let the almost 8-year-old multi-millionare eat grass at Old Friends. Agree. What could possibly go wrong with a horse who will be 8 in January, and has been on the track for 6 years? This is why we need retir...

Re: PETA Is A Bully

As soon as I learned (when I was young) that PeTA claimed that they kill baby sheep for wool by sheering the skin off... I stopped taking PETA seriously and I am very surprised anyone actually takes them seriously. I get the gullible and less-than-intelligent public will believe it because believing...

Re: We Need More Science....

I like turf racing but also like dirt racing as well. It IS fun to see horses try out both surfaces and I think the belief that horses strongly prefer one over the other is overblown. I wouldn't do so hot on turf if I ran on dirt 99% of the time with little to no training on turf. Which goes with wh...

Ehhh, PP's are some of the most confusing things ever, there are so many different numbers and abbrevations and gamblers have no problem reading them.... something tells me they can learn a vets record. Don't say rude and dumb things and then cry when people give you back the same tone. Maybe I’ve ...

Re: Breeders cup mum on Mongolian groom

Are we surprised PETA would film and post such a thing? they love to exploit animals' pain for their gain. Thankfully most people don't take PETA seriously and tune them out.

I just hope BC, SA or CHRB doesn't give them anything to run with and gain any similance of crediability,
