Re: 2019 Kentucky Derby

Is it just me or does it seem odd that 40, or I guess 38 pts, is not enough to get in? Did we just not have a lot of defections or am I misremembering past point thresholds?

Kinda crazy Instagrad ( who I think would make a much much better miler) isn't even in the top 25

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

I'm really liking Ohmam Beach. I like how in both the Rebel and Ark Derby he refused to let a horse get by him. In my opinion, at no point in the stretch was Improbable even close to getting by. I was high on War of Will, but his La Derby doesn't tell me anything and isn't the type of prep race you ...

This is such a bummer for me. I was really high on this horse.
Same. Not exactly the type of prep race you want heading into the KD (that is if they decide to go with him).

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

I know that because I have eyes and can use critical thinking skills.

It’s also my opinion. How do you know so surely he would have won? Because I’m struggling to seeing him beat recent race winners (especially that Preakness).

We can admit that was an ugly Preakness win guys. It’s ok.

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

History will not put an asterisk on Justify's record, but fans can and will. I have seen several TCs now and he is by far the one with the least ability. I will stick to my original theory, there isn't another crop in the last 20 years that he would have won the TC. If you doubt that, put your name...

Re: New Conformation Photos

Arrogate is proof that beauty does not make a champion. Wonder if that conformation had anything to do with his short career though. Why did they use a grass eraser brush on Lighting Spear if the original picture was on concrete lol I imagine they had a conversation that went something like this "O...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Had Justify won the Triple Crown in 2014, he'd be Horse of the Year. But since AP already did it in 2015, he gets penalized since we already saw AP do it. California Chrome was the 2014 HotY and he failed to win the Belmont and didn't win a dirt race again after the Preakness until 5. Winning a Tri...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Your eyes? Well, you should have started with that. In my opinion, he bounced in the Preakness and if I had a nickel for every time a horse I bet on would have won a race if it were a few feet shorter or longer, I’d be swimming in nickels. Good Magic came at him pretty good in both the Derby and Pr...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Some mentioned what would have happened if Justify had his own "Sham"? Well if he had someone pushing him like that, he wouldn't be a triple crown winner. Proof? My eyes? You don't have to agree with me, but we saw what happens when Justify is pushed, it happened in the Preakness and he barely won....

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

No explanation for Justify's time in the Belmont. Trainers are allowed to tell a jockey to put a horse in front and slow the pace down. Happens all the time. Perfectly legal. Why run faster than you need to? Also, some horses like to run in company, others put distance between themselves and their ...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

I definitely agree with Tessablue about the whole situation.

I personally think Accerlate SHOULD win, but I have a sneaky suspicion Justify will win because most voters don't care about that, they just care about flashy things and fancy titles, and TC WInner already sounds fancy and flashy.

Re: Justify

I do agree with what everyone has said about my post, money is definitely the leading factor but I still wonder if he would have come out the Belmont in better shape if he had a better foundation.

Still would have been retired probably.

Re: Justify

Can’t say I’m surprised. Unfortunate that he wil never get to show everyone what’s he’s made of against older horses.

I wonder if this can be used as a cautionary tale of pushing a young horse with no foundation (and injuring or souring them) or that is unrelated and it’s all about money?

Re: 3yos of 2018

Ruis seems like a good dude. Hope he continues to grow and find success! Doesn’t he own the colt? Yup! Currently, he owns the racing rights, and sold the stud rights to Spendthrift who also allowed him to retain a share. Thanks! I thought he did but I wasn't sure. I'm glad he is still apart of the ...
