Re: Santa Anita 2019

...pardon my layperson ignorance, but. If a *weanling* or *yearling* is showing signs of sesamoiditis at that age???? Isn't that something that seems kind of ridiculous??? And shouldn't breeders be trying to figure out the cause of it, OR - is it just a natural part of growing/playing that actually ...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

As a layperson, both/either of those proposals seem very reasonable to me. I don't think any reasonable person would want to remove a therapeutic medication from those horses that truly need it, but there is also a disincentive to put every horse on it just to stay even regarding the performance enh...

Re: 2019 Foals

They were just pulling it around so mama could clean/bond. Pulling by the legs doesn't hurt them.

Re: 2019 Foals

Baby is out and moving, Starr Bear is resting. Thank goodness, that was a little bit stressful.

Looks like a mostly solid chestnut, maybe a front sock? Mama is licking, it seems to be moving well.

Re: 2019 Foals

I was convinced she was going to last night, I had her stream open in one window & hockey in the other and thought for sure there would be a foal before the game ended... but nope. She doesn't look anywhere near as uncomfortable tonight. What the heck, silly mare. That said... she laid down ...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

That's an amazing story with some very good points, I think. I wondered when I first started watching Japanese racing about the "vigorous" warmups they do as well, but then the horses walk for several minutes after that before loading & racing. It does seem to make sense that such practices might he...

Re: 2019 Foals

I was watching the last few hours of footage of Viva Sheila and her filly, looks like they did an ultrasound on both of them & gave the filly an enema. :? I know they said she was quick to stand (20 minutes) but slow to pass meconium last night, hopefully everything is sorted now. They both look pre...

Re: Random Retiree News

You guyyyyyyyyyyyyyys I drove out after work today to see him and he is so handsome!!! Also very very Very TALL. He's gotta be 17 hands, with legs for miles. But he seems on the mellow side - apparently he did sleep very well after his trip, and traveled well too - though he's been at a layu...

Re: Random Retiree News

Thanks, it's so exciting!!!

LOL I got sent a pic from just after they loaded him on the trailer and he had that "what just happened?!?!" look that we usually see on newborn foals, poor guy. Hopefully he'll sleep well tonight after his long trip!
