Re: Racing in Japan

Well, it was a newcomer race for 2yr olds... and he *just* turned two in April. I'm not condoning his behavior, but there's a huge difference between the traditional red-ribbon horse (which usually denotes a kicker or horse who doesn't like to be crowded) and what we're seeing here. From the reactio...

Re: Racing in Japan

The biggest surprise was that the colt, Grosser Bar, is by Harbinger (GB) and *not* Gold Ship.

I'm guessing he'll have two handlers the next time out... finished 8th this time.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Running in tomorrow's July Cup (GB-I) is grade I winner Ticker Tape's little brother, Brando . Love this name. My favorite pony growing up was named Brando (he was a short and stocky liver chestnut POA). I had a POA tooooooooo!!! She was a varnish roan oh-so-crabby mare but I loved her to pieces. H...

I wonder what Mr Takatoshi Iwanami thinks of this colt, and definitely am curious about his temperament too! 8-)

Re: Racing in Japan

There wasn't a lot of info, but there might have been some tweet kerfuffle that ended up with accounts being reported for vid clips? possibly? and then his account was suspended. Perhaps. After about a week he came back locked, I asked to follow and he added me but there's been no new content. I wan...

Re: Photos/News about Broodmares

I think we might be reading too much into the rough translation... I've seen "I was fine" show up in a lot of google translations when I'm looking at Northern Horse Park tweets, etc. In this particular case my guesstimation is that Marble Cake (as a lot of the mares bored out of their minds at the s...

Re: Photos/News about Broodmares

Wondering of Uma or Tachyon can make sense of this tweet about Marble Cake? I don't see a produce record for yet though she's 8 now. https://twitter.com/buena_vista23/status/1147986747067777024 Google translated it for me as "I am struggling with my first childcare." Perhaps that means she is havin...

Re: Stallion News

via Kate Hunter on twitter, King Kamehameha (JPN), champion son of Kingmambo and influential Japanese sire, has been pensioned from stud duties at Shadai. While it's not entirely unexpected, and he is 19 years old, it's still a big loss for Japan. :| At least there's Lord Kanaloa (and hopefully Rey ...

Re: Stallion News

I dunno but it surprised me a little to see (at least I think so, even though it's blurred) the handler is only wearing a baseball cap... usually they've had helmets since he's so unpredictable with his feet. So maybe that *is* a bit of mellowing...?
