Re: The Pennsylvania Derby Saturday

The trainer made me all teary eyed. Awww good for the connections! Improbable though definitely was not ready when those gates opened.

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Just because a vet would “never” use it as a PED because if side effects doesn’t mean the man with 7 dead horses wouldn’t. The amount of blind eye people are using to explain this away is annoying and slightly disturbing. Even if given by an accident there is a reason it’s banned over a certain lim...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Until they list the other horses/trainers involved and the amounts they had in their system, we will never know if it was contamination or intentional.

OK, has anyone seen this? https://www.wave3.com/2019/09/12/vet-says-zero-chance-drug-found-justifys-system-would-be-given-before-race/?fbclid=IwAR0mZ4NXD4M140a9MNslCrxTHZwrqZjTZ5r3Nt40-VyY87CUypz4q03bGHM Well, Rood & Riddle is a pretty reputable clinic so I guess it depends on if people ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Stupid question. Have any of the other trainers and/ or horses with scopolamine positives at the same time as Justify been identified? It may have been obvious in the articles but I can't recall seeing it. Especially if the levels were comparable, how were these cases handled? Thanks so much. And, ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I just want to know who the other trainers were that were also positive at that time. Why didn't Joe Drape list them in his article? I also wish we could hear from others who were positive in the past, like Mandella, to know their thoughts on the subject.

How are the California Chrome yearlings looking? Are they selling well?
The filly out of Warbling went for $260K earlier, to what I believe are Japanese connections.
Japan seems to really like Chrome.

I'm disappointed that Omaha Beach is going to retire :( I wish horses would stick around as older horses. Also, they now stand 31 stallions (including these 5)

Sounds like a case like this happened before too (not a Triple Crown prep race though) to Mandella, Henning, and McAnally https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1994-03-27-sp-39036-story.html https://caselaw.findlaw.com/ca-court-of-appeal/1389876.html Lady Blessington and Water Prospector are two h...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Did Justify have any reports of colic around that time?

https://www.farmersweekly.co.za/animals ... -buscopan/

That article is South Africa but I wasn't sure if Colic drugs in the US also do the same thing.

Midnight Lute seems to be doing okay as a sire. Victory Gallop had some decent offspring before going to Turkey. Street Sense has had a few decent.

Re: Honor Code ...

The Honor Codes that I have seen in races all seem to have his late closing kick so I would suspect that he may get more winners once races start getting longer. Plus, for those worried he will be shipped out, I think it would take more than a slow-starting first crop for Lanes End to get rid of a G...
