Re: We Need More Science....

He's right, muscle fatigue = running mainly on bones. (Posted about it in the other infamous thread). It's a fickle thing with dirt racing. Make a track very speedy and hard like concrete, you get injuries. Make a track very deep, you get fatigue which leads to injuries. Then there's the environment...

Re: PETA Is A Bully

I am wondering what PETA actually does FOR animals. I know the ASPCA does a loooot of good work. All I ever hear about Peta is that they are working the PR machinery. Apart from them putting pets down in their shelters. What kind of animal rights organization runs a kill shelter?!? There are so many...

Re: Accident Prevention

Yeah, one thing's for sure, they don't have Peta Zealots in China. But as I said: What would help horses and potential buyers is to really have the whole vet records stored with track management and they can decide if a horse is fit to be claimed. Really could prevent some ugly scenarios, where owne...

Re: Accident Prevention

Btw, the way I did handicap is not that I place one thing highly on the priority list and forget about the other stuff. Had a big advantage when I used to bet regularly, because I knew every single horse (unless they shipped in from another country), track only had about 300 stabled there. The way I...

Re: Accident Prevention

If you sincerely wanna know, I can only tell you what I've heard (I can't verify if true or not). If for example a horse bled only 3 weeks ago and runs again, that's a red flag for bettors. Chances are high the horse will bleed again (not enough rest). If a horse was injured and had slower workouts,...

Re: Accident Prevention

I should have told my wife, 25 years ago when we got married, that I have a false positive whenever I take a treadmill test. Made me laugh. And I can tell you that I tried to explain how to read PPs to newcomers and they all found it horrible confusing at first. Btw (!) I forgot to resp...

Re: Accident Prevention

All I hear is whining, why are you not actually informing yourself about other racing products? And read things into postings that aren't there? ;) You presented a scenario in your first posting (a horse finished last and was pulled up actually, then had 3 work outs. Put in a claiming race, pulled u...

Re: Accident Prevention

Sure, if you want to behave like a 3 or 4 year old. *shrug* I don't care/mind. ;) I said it again and again, I take no sides in arguments, if you can't cope/deal with that, you can leave anytime you want. Even without posting theatrically "Ban Me" after insulting me.

Re: weird/obscure horse advice

Very generally speaking: blaming the horse instead of the owner and dishing out advice how to "fix" the "bad horse". It's usually a people problem, not a horse problem.

Re: Accident Prevention

Don't see anything racist or sexist with Starks posting btw. I know you aren't from the US, but Aqueduct is in a predominately working class neighbor. I think it's important to consider that. Working class doesn't imply that it's related to races or sexes either. I know PC is huuuuge in the US, but...

Re: Accident Prevention

Don't see anything racist or sexist with Starks posting btw. A bit over the top to call him out for that especially since you can't make out who is who in the crowd. Btw Stark as I said: if you are dishing it out, you also have to take it. You often pick out random postings from other members you th...

Re: Accident Prevention

You think that gambler won't learn what to look after in vet records, when they had to learn everything else? They would figure it out. Step one is to train vets on how to write industry standard medical records, get back to me when that's accomplished, thanks. You might want to broaden your...

Re: Accident Prevention

Well Stark, you basically said that "look at that crowd, you think they can figure that out?" Implying that the average gambler is stupid. So if you dish it out like that, insulting a whole bunch of people, you have to be able to take it too.

Thank God another horse was hurt so I can stick it to them! Woohoo!
WTF, who said that, PETA?
It was a sarcastic remark, because someone else said that on this forum are a few posters who are happy when another horse gets hurt.

Re: Accident Prevention

Open vet records. Would protect the betting public and the people who maybe want to claim her too. ;) Edit to say: doubt they would even let her start then, cause there won't be any chance they could unload her. What else can I say about it, absolutely disgusting. I hope nobody claimed her and that ...

Re: Breeders Cup Discussion?

Whips and whipping are a necessity. They help guide the horse as well as urge it to speed. Leave their use to the jocks, not some idiot overseer. Someone will absorb the cost of the increased medical tests. Who do you think that will be, and who do you think will fold up shop first? Heh, I know the...

When Il Paradiso came up right beside Vow and Declare he kicked on once more. Think they should write Il Paradiso a cheque too. Great race!
