Re: Day 2

C) Your answer really does nothing to answer my question about enabling bad parenting. Ok yes totally, we should let kids go hungry in order to teach their parents to make more money. Especially during a global pandemic which has produced unprecedented unemployment levels. How does that "bad parent...

Re: Day 2

I'm from Europe and even here it's unheard of that the school provides lunch for the kids that stay at home. Schools are closed here until September. If both parents of the kid are essential (nurses, doctor for example) there is still a program that takes care of these kids in school. Over 9...

Re: Day 2

I had to go to the grocery store this morning to stock up on a few essentials. I can't believe how many people I saw wearing masks and I kept thinking are they sick, have a compromised immune system, or just wanting to protect themselves. It's a good thing to wear a mask and considerate towards oth...

Re: Saratoga 2020 !?!?

Sounds reasonable to me. Nobody has a crystal ball and it's still quite some time until July. If infection rates slow to like 1 or 2% of new infections each day, then they would be fine to go with some precautions (less attendance so people can spread out more etc) Might be sensible to shorten the m...

Re: Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale

I knew he's a philanthropist and admired the community help he provides..I just disagreed with the decisions he made regarding his horses( no way would I have kept Runhappy in the incapable hands of Laura Wohlers nor would I have used Maria borrell as a trainer)... I feel the same way about the Wes...

Re: Racing resume question

If you are evaluating a stallion for a mare and you are placing some emphasis on the stallions race record. Would you rather breed to a stallion who won the Travers? Or a stallion who lost the derby and Preakness and won the Belmont? Which race do you consider more "prestigious" to list as a win on...

Adoring still Independence Hall, not saying he'll win this, but as per usual I hope he does.

I think Tiz the law will be tough to beat.

Re: Day 2

For everyone who is reading, what is everyone reading? It would be a good time for me to read something different than I normally do. I'm currently on The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel. I am enjoying it a bit although not as much as Station 11. I always find a Stephen King book comforting an...

Crap, wanted to be on Angel of Mischief but missed the starting time. If she should win now I will kick myself

Edit: thank god, I don't have to kick myself. :D What an impressive finish by La Signare!

The rail was gold on the dirt there today. Maybe it changes tomorrow, but I'm skeptical, so maybe keep that in mind.
Thanks for the tip :D

I'm sooooo looking forward to the card today. It gives back a sense of normality.

Re: The Florida Derby

I said it in the other thread: what's even worse is that shelters can't adopt out etc, cause they will close down too. Imagine if some of the staff members get infected, can't risk it. On the plus side: there won't be any auctions either, cause the gathering of people would be too large. There's a c...

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

This is not about PETA or anything. This is just to prevent the virus spreading. There's no racing in the UK either and all over Europe tracks are closed. We're quite a bit ahead here and I can tell you that in the beginning those decisions change by the hour. For example restaurants: first they sai...

I'm sooo looking forward to this. Really a nice card. Some races leave me clueless (just being honest here) but I got my picks on quite a few. :D
