Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I've adamantley railed against that ownership group and Al Shaqab for years. Publicslly.

I find it impossible to overlook it. It's a good old white boys club.

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

The idea that we should look the other way is a lot of desensitization. The CHRB has really offered no facts to combat anything.

I hope all the board members have D&O!

Re: Belmont

26 is way more than 4, and 4 is still more than it should be. How do we have no interest? Not all of us have the luxury of the extreme amount of free time that you have. There's also no local media reporting on it. If it continues into next week I'm sure that will change. I'm glad that 26 deaths don...

Re: Belmont

Why does the west coast have such a chip on it's shoulder? Do you want more horses to break down at Belmont so racing has more bad publicity? NY media is heavily focused on baseball and the sad state of our football teams right now. I'm sure some local media has this but in the tri state area there ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

While I doubt it was intentional, the question is not whether it was intentionally given as a PED, but whether at that dose it had PED effects. Also, for disreputable vets and trainers, side effects that can be disastrous for the horse do not always enter into the equation. Giving a potential PED s...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I wouldn't take a Percocet prior to heading to the gym either but that shit sure does work great on a Sunday afternoon when my back locks up and I can't move. I don't know enough about this drug or it's half-life or possible cross contamination to have a real opinion, but I'm sick of racing being sh...

I imagine ear length is an important angle when it comes to handicapping the hounds.

Man, that is really just too cute. Those ears. Dogs are great.

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Stupid question. Have any of the other trainers and/ or horses with scopolamine positives at the same time as Justify been identified? It may have been obvious in the articles but I can't recall seeing it. Especially if the levels were comparable, how were these cases handled? Thanks so much. And, ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Who cares if they don't trust him lol. We don't any of these people personally. We can't trust any of them. Maybe racing should have cared anytime over the past 50 years to improve it's public image and then one NYT story wouldn't look so bad. Treating fans like they're stupid is silly. A lot of us ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Cali government now has the authority to outrank the CHRB and can suspend racing at SA as Cali Gov sees fit, right?

The BC still wants it's marque event in this cluster of a state?

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

by the way, Justify seemed to have a lot of big time owners buying in on the horse - right before the KY Derby - did they all know about this failed drug test? the only one I feel sorry for in this whole thing, is Justify - that poor horse - it really just makes me sick for him. The PRC bought into...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

I’m withholding final judgment as more information is released and the story develops, Big congratulations, wish the rest of the country could follow your lead, thanks. What spoilsports you two are. Waiting for actual facts is no fun. It's the right thing to do of course. However, when you realize ...

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

he CHRB is a prime example of why racing has an image problem, the people running the show have conflicts of interest. Not just in California, but all over the country. In my years as an owner, I can say without a doubt, thoroughbred racing is an insular, political world, and it doesn't want any ou...

So do people still really believe Bayern shouldn't have been DQed. The CHRB deserves to have the State take it over.

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

WinStars post TC comments and retiring this horse immediately destroyed my passion for this game. The Restoring Hope thing was also just bad taste. Ever since I've kind of looked at racing the way you might look at a significant other once someone brings something negative to your attention and the ...

Re: Jockey club exploring 140 mare cap per stallion

I think for a libertarian to be upset, a libertarian would actually have to know what it is well enough to know what upsets it.

I don't see how this is a bad idea. I think it's physically easier on all stallions too.

Re: Saratoga 2019

Was anyone at sweatshirt giveaway day? Complete and utter madness. What is it about "free" stuff that makes people go into a blood frenzy? Parking and admission cost just as much as a sweatshirt in the first place... I haven't been to Saratoga since 2015, but I went over the Labor Day weekend for a...

Re: Honor Code ...

Ugh, messed up quotes. I guess that's what I get for typing on a treadmill. I feel like Honor Code was a horse I really enjoyed and respected but is somehow lodged in my memory as a horse I was generally left wanting more from. Memory is a strange thing. I went looking and he routinely just ran agai...
