Re: Name The Circuit Contest

I'll throw in another nomination for Hong Kong. Their stewards report available after the races is very clear and incredibly detailed. A quick look at other parts of the website reveals horses exercise and vet reports available each day. My only issue with HK is the lack of information on aftercare....

Re: Australian Racing

A fascinating question that I have never really considered. A quick look through suggests only 5 of the past 20 Derby winners are colts (plus 2 fillies!). There are some owned in HK where they rarely keep colts intact, others are owned by people who want to have a long career, while others have trai...

Re: Australian Racing

New Zealands biggest race the G1 New Zealand Derby will be run this weekend for 3yos over 2400 meters. The two favourites are Dragon Leap and the filly Two Illicit. Note the Derby is the only major race in NZ that has never been won by a female jockey. 1 Dragon Leap (AUS) (3g Pierro (AUS) - Pontiana...

I see Casta Diva has a 35 and 4 on her shoulder. Is branding common in Japan? I've never noticed it before (and odd I noticed it on a white horse).

Re: Matings 2019

@ Rugby Girl What can you tell me about the...interesting stallions from Japan in the Down Under, Rafflesia and Southern Lights? Huh I had to look them up. They are both here in New Zealand at the same farm and both served ONE mare in 2019. For some reason I suspect they will not be too successful ...

Re: Is American Pharoah a turf sire

Maybe it has more to do with A) the mares bred to him, and B) how his offspring have been campaigned. I wonder if this was a deliberate move from Coolmore to breed turf mares to AP in his first season. His first Australian yearlings will go through the sale ring next week and it is fair to say with...

Re: In Memoriam 2019

The stud has kept quiet about how it happened just that it was a freak paddock accident. The injury was definitely to a hoof since they named the vets and farriers involved in the first surgery
