Re: 2017 Stallion Fees - Changes?

Curlin started at $75,000 in 2009 then was at $25,000 after his first crop of 2-year-olds (who obviously didn't do too hot). He stayed there until 2015 when he went up to $35,000 (and is now at $100k at a different farm). Actually, in the early months of 2014, they were booking Curlin at $15,000. T...

Re: FT Florida Sale
Where else would you buy one?
Well, at the race track, after the horse had actually accomplished something. At this point with the pedigrees they have, they're ALL potential stallions! (Um, except for the fillies.) I can see buying a filly and saying "Well, even if she can't run, sh...

Im not a believer yet. He closed into an incredibly slow finaly 3/8. Im not sure he was closing, or everyone in front was totally dying.

Re: Stallion News

I like the pedigree. He's accomplished enough to like the talent level. What I don't like is his lack of speed. I don't like deep closers as sires. I think this alone would keep me from breeding to him until such time as he proves me wrong and he's a hit at stud. -Impeccable pedigree -Faced top cla...

Re: Jess's Dream

Re: Big Red the dams he sired are his offspring... You can argue his problem as a sire was that he didn't produce runners that were as good as him let alone better, but then that falls more into the 'what constitutes a good sire' debate. In today's world he'd be considered a failure but there was a...

Re: The 12th Triple Crown winner

horses in slop and heavy sideways rain run slow final time, news at 11 I don't think any of the horses or jockeys could see three feet in front of them. Track was basically a swimming pool, too. Besides that, he's still a Triple Crown winner. Many if not most of the TC winners beat small, slow fiel...

Re: Ocala Stud Sold

If Im not mistaken, Ocala Stud was already sold about 5 years ago to John Brunetti. They had just been given a term lease on it. Ocala Stud still owns the Annex out on 441, and Mike O'Farrell purchased a large piece even further out than that, I believe. Right now Ocala Stud is right in the middle o...

Re: TBA Charities auction fraudulent

A reasonable deal, not a great deal. It would have been a great deal had I not been bidding against the house. I dont mind bidding against the house, per se. What I do mind, and why i wont ever deal with them again, is that they bid until they overbid me, and then retracted their bid. Thats the issue.

TBA Charities auction fraudulent

I know they need to raise money, and this auction is a big fund raiser for them, but really? You have to use shill bidders to get every dollar you can? I had bid on a season, and I was watching it til the end. I thought I had it won, but with 20 seconds left, a bid came in that was $100 higher than ...

Re: 2014 BC CLASSIC Gr1 $5 million 3 & Up 1 ¼ Miles SA Sat

If trainers and riders in California didnt realize the damage they can do right out of the gate before this and get away with it, they do now.

Very dangerous precedent.

Re: 2015 Stallion Fees

I think POTN is worth every penny of that. He's getting a load of graded stakes horses on the dirt, they can go 2 turns, and he can be bred to a large population of mares without inbreeding. He's getting equally good fillies and colts. He has at least 7 graded stakes horses in his first crop, which ...
