Re: Horrible Names For Horses
This has probably been mentioned (possibly by me) but "Walks Like a Duck" has to be on this list.

Re: Famous Rabbits
Let us not forget Commanche (yes--spelled with 2 'm's) for Tabasco Cat [to soften up Holy Bull]. I know that CT ran in the Haskill (?) and Travers in 1994(?) when he had no business being in route races. Connections --- DWT/Overbrook

Re: Justify/Restoring Hope...quite the duo
A rabbit has been used for decades. My old boy, (Commanche Trail -- yes, his JC name was misspelled) was the rabbit for Tabasco Cat (a come from behind horse who circled the field and came charging down the stretch), when he was racing against Holly Bull (ran on the lead and could win if he could sl...

Re: DSLD: a hereditary disease
There is a new test which is still in the testing stage. I have Goober doing it; I should have answers this week. A pathologist in Georgia noticed that the nuchal ligament in horses who were necropsied, had nuchal ligaments which matched the nuchal ligament in living horses with suspected DSLD. So t...

DSLD: a hereditary disease
I am posting in the breeding forum because DSLD/EPSA is a hereditary disease which affects TB's (as well as a number of other breeds). It is irreversible and inevitably results in euthanization. You may well ask "Why have I never heard of it and how can I prevent a horse that I own from passing it o...

Re: Saratoga Breakdowns
Saratoga sits empty for 300+ days a year; it must be very hard to bring it back to 100% optimal condition since the base/dirt cannot settle that fast. It is hard to find a small area of base that has not completely packed down. If so, the horse did not take a bad step; it might have been the footing...
Re: Arrogate
Maybe he's just not sharp off a long layoff? Haven't seen the replay (was complaining earlier that I had no stream but sounds like while I did miss it, it was for totally different reasons than I thought). I just watched the replay. Arrogate simply all but stopped when he went into the stretch. Fro...

Re: Belmont Stakes
It looks like a desensitizing exercise, sometimes called 'sacking out,' IIRC. Maybe the colt was shying from things that moved or were flapping around. For someone headed to a huge race like the Belmont, with thousands of fans waving around hands, phones and programs, it probably isn't a good thing...

As long as he is headed North, perhaps he could win at Emerald Downs?

Re: Pegusus World Cup G1
Anyone know why TB Pedigree is showing that CC has already one foal on the ground? A 2016 colt named Rexallius. It must be a mistake, but you would think it would have been corrected by now. However, the foal would have been conceived in the spring of 2015 when he was in England. Would they have don...

Re: Pegusus World Cup G1
Whoever wins, if he has a decent margin, I hope that the horse is not eased before the wire. Especially if it is Chrome. In his last race I hope he leaves it all on the track and sets new records.

Re: Masochistic DQ'ed from BC Sprint
Ellis should have run a drug screen in November. And another one the beginning of December (if necessary). WTF is he doing, waiting until the 12th hour? Makes me think he is not being as honest as he looks. I feel bad for the connections, but not for Ellis. It's a nice horse who needs a new trainer....

Re: Keeneland September (12-25) Yearling Sale
Sometimes the one bid horses are the consignor or the consignor's friend bidding to a) get the bidding started or 2) bring the horse home again so the meat men will not try to negotiate for the horse. I have taken home several "no bids". Often the sellers are grateful to have it go to a good home. ...

Re: Stallion News
I am curious. How is Spendthrift doing with their non-commercial stallions? It has certainly taken the hard road to success. I guess all it needs is to have one 'breakout' horse (likeGainsway did with Tapit) to make the farm viable. But first it has to attract good mares, and I cannot see owners of ...

Re: Donegal Moon
Of course it was "pretty close to the reserve". No one would put a "live money" reserve in a situation like this. And an "all the way reserve" stops one bid lower than the reserve.
It would be interesting to know when the 'live money' bidding stopped.

Damn Lucas. Take Charge Tapit is going to buck his shins in the post parade. No way should that 2 year old be running this early with those front legs.
Let's all hope he comes home safe.

Re: Any way to watch Derby coverage online?
HBO is TOTALLY different. They don't depend on advertisements. There are no commercials. NBC and NBC sports are totally dependent on viewers to set advertisement rates. If millions STEAL the stream than the network gets a lower rating and much lower payment from the advertisers. In fact the people ...
