Re: Stallion News

I’ve seen the ads but didn’t realize there was a date on them... a teaser for sure. They’ve already announced they’re standing Omaha Beach and Mitole, and last year they grabbed Bolt d’Oro and Free Drop Billy. This may be a naive question, but out of curiosity, how are farms able to continually add...

Re: Jockey club exploring 140 mare cap per stallion

"We are disappointed that The Jockey Club would float this idea without anyone having approached us and asked our opinion," Toffey said. "We obviously breed larger books. If you were to reduce Into Mischief's book, his becomes a very expensive stud fee, and the way it is now works for a lot of smal...

Re: Zenyatta News

I was at Lane's End in April and our tour guide said that she had been bred to Candy Ride. If she was bred again on June 9th, she must have lost that one. Poor girl has not had a lot of luck being a mama. More likely than having "lost" a foal is that she simply didn't get in foal when she was previ...

Re: Lfsn info

The question cannot be answered without more information. If you acquired the mare privately, then it depends on what your contract or bill of sale says. If you bought her through an auction house like Keeneland or Fasig Tipton, the stud fee will have been paid prior to sale and you should have been...

Re: Mares and value

The old saying goes "Better unraced than unplaced." But a mare who is a winner (at any level) is--very generally speaking--more valuable than one who isn't. Which is why it's not uncommon to see big trainers shipping well bred, but untalented fillies to dinkie tracks in an attempt to break their mai...

Fiber Sonde could be Unbridled’s Song’s best son at stud!!!
Although it doesn’t hurt to be out of the same mare who produced Speightstown.
He still has a way to go before he catches up to Midshipman.

Re: Stallion News

I feel like sporthorse breeders in the US or (more likely) Europe would have appreciated him, at a lower price point of course. He did sire the NSA Champion Novice horse last year (Iranistan, the jumps stakes winner you mentioned) and his conformation is superb. I feel like Americain is going on a ...

Re: Sad state of breeding

It pains me to look over the current stallion directories. It is horrifying that we have lost good outcross sires. It wasn't that long ago when outcross stallions were valued and successful. In our not too distant past, we had A.P. Indy, Wild Again, Broad Brush, Dynaformer, Rahy, Cozzene. For us re...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Absolutely NOT sabino, as there is NO SB1 in thoroughbreds... And again, SP is a far more extreme patterned version here. I assumed KIT mutation as TBs have a notoriously unstable KIT, and it's a pattern that's cropped up in several other TBs. So far, not tested positive for SW1, 2,3 or 4. Hopefull...

Re: 2018 foals

Right now at 7:50PM eastern time, Bird Town looks fine. She is standing and looking out the door that goes outside to the paddocks. There is a breeze blowing into her stall, gently ruffling her mane and forelock. She seems content. Her ribs are showing a bit. I don't know if that's normal for a pre...
