Re: Baffert's Most Talented Trainee

Ugh, I remember Freedom's Daughter since I had just put her in my virtual stable after her Schuylerville win... that was a devastating and sudden death. Colitis X was the diagnosis, if memory serves. Left Bank was fantastic... he's certainly one of my favorites trained by Pletcher. (@thinair the Je...

Re: Baffert's Most Talented Trainee

Spahny pretty much summer up why I feel American Pharoah was Baffert's best. This was not to say that Arrogate was not also brilliant at times but his rise was meteoric by contrast. Pletcher's best horse, I think, was Left Bank . He came back from colic surgery as a young horse to beat Breeders' Cu...

Re: 2019 Hall of Fame Finalists

Gio Ponti was one of my favorite horses. I loved seeing him run.

He has no business being in a Hall of Fame.

Re: Baffert's Most Talented Trainee

Better than Arrogate? "Best" is definitely a silly subjective argument, but still least PG stayed good for more than a few months. How long was Point Given's run? I don't remember if he raced after the BC, but he was second in the Champagne behind AP Valentine ( he was best though ) and second in t...

Re: Reasons why Barns go Ice Cold?

Albertrani never wins at a high percentage, and Toner probably just has mediocre stock. Have either been losing with a lot of short priced horses? A lot of trainers use Gulfstream as a Winter respite to get ready for the Spring and Summer. The purses aren't great and some don't love the track. Alber...

Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

So, what are we supposed to do with this result and any of the horses behind the two longshots in a relatively slow race (85 Beyer)? Mihos (to me), looked completely confused out there, and I'm willing to give him a pass going 2 turns first time. He didn't settle early, and never looked comfortable...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Bottom line...... If I were to compare Mott's plans to another trainer's area of expertise, before I'd ever compare him to following in Baffert's footsteps , the next 100 times I'd compare him to the late great patient Bobby Frankel who also never won a Derby. Some really great trainers just don't ...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Hell will freeze over before Mott follows in Baffert's footsteps and "rushes" a horse into the TripleCrown. Didn't he do that with Hofburg last year? Close Similar except for the results. Hofburg did have a more traditional start in September of his 2YO season. What has Mott done in the past, somet...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Kukulkan lost by over 30 lengths. He wasn't last because Patternrecognition was eased. There were also four horses that were longer prices, including the runner up.

Somewhere PT Barnum is smiling.

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

What chances do you give Kukulkan? I heard his trainer talking this morning on HRN radio and he is very high on this guy. I think it would be so cool if he could do it. Since Calumet stands his grand sire and an eclectic collection of stallions I wonder if they would not try to obtain breeding righ...

Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

I can't really imagine what it's like to set up a Twitter thinking that you'll just share some picks about whatever racing thing you're thinking if, only for it to be thrown back in your face like is happening here. It is abundantly strange. TA, I do have some new found respect for you. I could nev...

The similarities between you and Todd Shrupp really are endless, must be in the job DNA. You both think we're obsessed with you. You both tweet out your picks daily for FREE. You both have some contrarian opinions. You both have some informed opinions along with some not-so. You both pick a few win...

RE: Fahan Most 30-1 shots can be referred to as silly, that's okay. This one will have red pen marks in PPs all across America that read CheapSpeed, that's okay too. Re: 2019 Pegasus World Cup

Fahan Mura is a silly entrant, though I guess her speed helps some of the others. She's basically a rabbit for everyone. I wonder what she paid to run. Probably low five figures. Her only chance is to be ignored and be allowed to walk the dog. She’s a nice story but I’m not seeing it. Of much more ...

The headline is puzzling. Jimmy doesn't look too excited to me, but this boy has been training pretty well although mostly on dirt. Yeah, likely Stronach's call.
I hadn't even noticed that. Pretty funny. The layoff line is 45 days. How many Stakes horses frequently run back that quickly?
