Re: 2019 Keeneland September

This has to do with yearling sales in general, but the Fasig Tipton mid-Atlantic sale catalog just came out, and two of the more interesting (at least on paper) Chrome yearlings will be offered there, and both have some recent gleam to the pedigree. The Formalities Aside colt is from the immediate ...

Re: Standout Losing Efforts

The 2004 Woodward was a race that didn't deserve a loser. Poor Saint Liam ran into some buzzsaws in his career, and he got his recognition eventually, but I think this effort was his best of all, as he made Ghostzapper work for every inch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5Y1EDBJ4lk I was trying to...

If you're interested in orca captivity and SeaWorld, check out John Hargrove's book, Beneath the Surface: Killer Whales, SeaWorld, and the Truth Beyond Blackfish. He was interviewed for Blackfish but I feel like the book was a bit more moderate - he wrote extensively about his experiences and relati...

Re: The VENT Thread

I'm back among the living, sort of. Finally out of ICU. Been here since the last message. They stick me in another room some time this evening. Glad to hear you're out of the ICU. My kiddo just had his 10000009th surgery on Tuesday. He's already back at daycare for a half day. Kids are crazy resili...

So sorry for your loss, Bal.

The rescue that I foster for recently adopted out a Ridgeback mix. I saw him and thought of you and the little darlings.

Re: Standout Losing Efforts

No one has mentioned Real Quiet's Belmont, so I will. I read a conspiracy years ago that Real Quiet actually did win but the New York stewards didn't want a California guy (Baffert) to win the Triple Crown so they edited all the photos and footage. I don't necessarily subscribe to this but I will s...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

I’m surprised they’re selling her because I thought they wanted to keep her to continue on the legacy. Hip 336 is out of Daisy Mason, who is out of Leslie's Lady. A colt by Nyquist. Maybe he'll be more affordable? Looove the name Daisy Mason, because it's a Downton Abbey name . I don't think ...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

I've spent all morning looking through my dresser drawers and under the couch cushions trying to scrounge up enough change to buy hip 498. ;) http://apps.keeneland.com/sales/Sep19/pdfs/498.pdf I’m surprised they’re selling her because I thought they wanted to keep her to continue on the legacy. Brave Smash (Tosen Phantom x Tosen Smash, by Tokai Teio)
Oh man, there's a blast from the past. I had a little stuffed Tokai Teio that I got when I was in Japan at age 10. My dad won him for me in an arcade.

Santos is a beautiful horse.

Running in tomorrow's July Cup (GB-I) is grade I winner Ticker Tape's little brother, Brando.
Love this name. My favorite pony growing up was named Brando (he was a short and stocky liver chestnut POA).

^^ She's chestnut, going grey. Called that when she was born, she was highly hyperpigmented. Good to see her growing up. Colerful Chrome is registered as a chestnut. Can that be changed later if she does begin to gray out? I'm assuming they can update that. Happens sometimes when they register befo...

It might have something to do with the fact that she married him 5 years after her father died. That would make sense. Thanks for telling me . Not sure what her relationship is with the King, her half brother. You'd think he'd let her come there, but he must frown on what she's doing or won't...

I appreciate it, but I'm not sure how much inside knowledge I have. I hear some things and I wouldn't post something I don't know to be true. At least not without the stipulation. Okay, maybe inside knowledge is a leeeetle bit of a stretch, but still. You're still more knowledgeable about the...
