Re: Stallion News

The buyer of D'Wildcat and Closing Argument is actually Gerald Averett Jr. (they have his name misspelled in the sales results on one of the stallions). He owns Averett Farm in Louisiana and stands stallions. They have a Facebook page. Those horses need all the prayers we can give them. The horses ...

Re: 2019 BC Juvenile Turf

Quite a bit of War Front sire influence in this race this year. Fort Myers is by War Front himself. Peace Achieved, Decorated Invader, and War Beast are all by Declaration of War. Andesite is by The Factor. Both of those stallions are now in Japan, so... whoops. Isn't The Factor back this year? I t...

Engagement With War Front Likely in Elate's Future https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/236713/engagement-with-war-front-likely-in-elates-future ~ I like headlines like this because it makes me think stuff like "wow they're getting married" and then I remember they're horses. Yes! I was...

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

Anyone wanting and trying to prevent these occurrences should be lauded not derided. I will however say that one should be careful blanketing all inactivity at two. Marjorie E, the favorite in the final race on Saturday, didn’t run at two, nor did just about anyone on the bottom side of her pedigre...

War Front only covered 82 in 2018 but he has never covered big books. I think 110-ish is the max he has ever covered.
Yes - War Front's book has always been limited.

My list has only 73 of his 81 mares, so I guess I have some more digging to do.

Re: 2019 Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Snaafi Dancer cost around 13,000,000 guineas back in the day and in the words of John Dunlop, couldn't beat the yard dog in a race. Spending ridiculous amounts of money doesn't equate to success. And for every Miesque, Mariah's Storm, and Serena's Song, we get dozens of G1 winning mares who don't p...

I just made my second sale on Etsy ever, and last week, someone bought a painting privately.

I'm just so tickled that people actually will pay REAL MONEY for my art.

Shouldn't the title of the thread be "Why we don't do politics here anymore"? Because we once had a private politics board and it was quite ugly.

Re: Stallion News

It's kind of hilarious and telling of the North American industry when the top 3 third year stallions are Take Charge Indy (exported to Korea), Declaration of War (exported to Japan), and Shanghai Bobby (Exported to Japan). Yeah yeah yeah, Take Charge Indy is coming back, I know. Right? It makes me...

Re: Stallion News

I don't think in this case we went looking for politics, although it sometimes seeps into remarks in the threads and forums. But in this specific case, politics came into horse racing. It's "news" however relevant or irrelevant we might consider it individually, it was reported/posted on a fairly v...

Re: 2019 Keeneland September

This has to do with yearling sales in general, but the Fasig Tipton mid-Atlantic sale catalog just came out, and two of the more interesting (at least on paper) Chrome yearlings will be offered there, and both have some recent gleam to the pedigree. The Formalities Aside colt is from the immediate ...

Re: Standout Losing Efforts

The 2004 Woodward was a race that didn't deserve a loser. Poor Saint Liam ran into some buzzsaws in his career, and he got his recognition eventually, but I think this effort was his best of all, as he made Ghostzapper work for every inch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5Y1EDBJ4lk I was trying to...
