Re: Matings 2019

:( That's too bad; he was a gorgeous horse and very well-bred, IIRC.

Re: Favorite Photos of Race Horses

IMO, the good Scat Daddys all seem to have a lot of 'presence' about them.

Re: Matings 2019

IIRC, wasn't Kementari having issues with his fertility? :?
Was he brought back into training because of that?

Re: Day 2

IMHO, it seems simplistic to say that it is the parents' responsibility to feed their child, because when a household is suffering from poverty, that may not be a simple situation. And many households that were already low-income now have to deal with the parent(s) losing their jobs...and their sour...

Mon Venus? As fuddy-duddy as the Jockey Club can be about names, how did that one slip through?

Re: Kentucky Derby and the Coronavirus

The term 'abandoned' is actually something that UK and Down Under tracks have used for years. I have usually seen it when heavy rain creates conditions too wet even for their soft-turf lovin' runners, and the card is declared 'abandoned.' ;)

This doesn't surprise me. Yeah, I was an eye-roller myself, but I also remember how he opened his stores to flood evacuees when Houston got hit so hard by a storm.

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

If there is a serious risk of cross-contamination while caring for more than one horse, who is touched by more than one person, what would you do with all the horses stabled at Santa Anita? Aren't we talking about a couple of thousand or more? They either have to stay at the track and continue being...

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

Could the Santa Anita horses relocate to Los Alamitos just outside of arm's length of the LA City Council? That would depend on whether Los Al even has room. When both Hollywood Park and Fairplex went away, Los Al expanded its stabling to accommodate the horses that would have been in those locatio...

Re: Saturday Gulfstream Watchalong

Gary Stevens suggested that, if TTL were his, he would bring him back for the 1st Saturday in May Arkansas Derby.
The blaze-faced colt is sharp right now, so why not? It would be another big purse, a G1 on his resume, and then give him time off before prepping for the Sept. Derby.

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

I'm not so concerned about not being able to watch live racing; I'm worried about the horses. Thousands of racehorses - TBs, QHs, SBs - across the country will no longer be able to earn a living. The stables may stay open, with backside workers still caring for their horses, but how many will be abl...

I'm going to try to watch all the coverage available to me on FS1 and/or NBCSN tomorrow...because it's looking like this will be the last live racing we get to see for a long time. :(

Re: Gulfstream threatens legal action if forced to shut down racing

The headline on this post is apparently incorrect. Gulfstream Says Reported Threats Of Legal Action Over Potential Shutdown Are ‘False’ From the article: Bill Badgett, executive director of Florida operations for The Stronach Group, owner of Gulfstream Park, categorically denied any threat of legal ...
