He's not missing any meals, is he?
For a Galileo who has been retired only a few years, he's become quite a chunk.

Pushing to ban Lasix as a response to physical breakdowns on the track feels like making Nascar drivers change their cars' paint schemes in order to prevent wrecks.

Paco Lopez Suspended 60 Racing Days For ‘Continuous Careless Riding’ Jockey Paco Lopez has been suspended 60 racing days for what Gulfstream Park steward Stephen DiMauro called “continuous careless riding” in Sunday's 11th race at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track aboard Itsmyluckycharm for trainer...

Code of Honor - ITM FL Derby, Fountain of Youth, Champagne, and his maiden (2 G1s and 1 G2 + maiden) and working bullets consistently since mid December IIRC, Noble Mission never ran on the brown stuff, but he was a good, game race horse and there is no better pedigree around...if you want to breed...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

I've read in several places that the main option for horses running without Lasix is early withdrawal of water on race day, leaving runners dehydrated. When watching races like the Arc, I've noticed that the winners are immediately presented with a bucket of water, even before they get through the v...

Also AP's handsome, 'plain bay' coloring. I love a horse with no flashy, splashy white. :P

Re: Kentucky Derby Top 5

Omaha Beach : Getting good at the right time, tough in a dogfight, and maybe Mike Smith. Tacitus : Because that pedigree! Roadster : Tactical, with a turf horse-type stretch kick. Concern with him is that he's not a stout colt, so getting body-slammed in that big field could be an issue. Maximum Se...

Mike Smith had a pretty good weekend at Oaklawn. I think he took home about $100,000. :D

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

Mike Smith also has a good connection with Mr. Porter, for whom he rode the wonderful filly, Songbird. It's going to be a tough choice for Mike, as both colts have a lot going for them. My preference would be Omaha Beach, who seems to be a more strongly-built colt than the lighter-framed Roadster. I...

Re: Arkansas Derby G1 Million Dollars

I wonder if there's any particular reason Omaha Beach's tail is kept in a bob.

Quite a few runners had their tails up in a braid or bob today at Oaklawn due to the rain and mud.

I don't know if Japanese money has contributed terribly to the pools?

I wonder if there was a bump for Lani? He was very popular with Japanese fans, so that year may have given some evidence of increased wagering from Japan...or not.

I don't even know why CDI cares about international participant-ship anyway. Have you ever seen the figures for Japanese or Chinese wagering? :P I can understand why CDI would try to entice those fans to put some of that humongous pile o' money on a horse in which they have a home-grown interest.

Squeaky: Gave Hughie a nice head butt in the winners circle when he tried to kiss her on the nose and split his lip ( ow) -feisty until the end! Right! Thanks for reminding me. Hugh needs to remember that, if you nuzzle your horse, she may decide to give you a happy ( and energetic ) head bonk right...
