Re: mare left at sales

i'd never heard of him until now, that's insane. not sure how you can forget an entire horse (though i guess some callous ppl wouldn't be against leaving a horse that didn't sell that they don't want)

Re: No Whip Friday @ Santa Anita

i always saw whips as a safety thing first, a turbo switch second. i'm not a pro rider, but have heard many say that when a horse, who overpowers you by a lot, decides they don't want to cooperate, having a crop can be a gift from heaven when used correctly . not beating the tar out of them, but mor...

Did Cathedral Reader survive? Pedigree Query lists her as RIP but not sure if that was accurate.

He sure looks black, but he’s registered as dark bay/brown with the Jockey Club:
Thanks, I was just going by pedigree query. Sorry!
PQ is open source, meaning anyone and everyone can edit whatever info they like. unfortunately that leads to confusion, like this case. not your fault =)

Re: The Rebel Parts I and II

LRT looks black, but he’s registered with the Jockey Club as dark bay/brown. His time was faster than than that of the older horses in the Essex. http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=Horse&refno=10098975®istry=T just in case anyone was wondering. he does not appear to be registered ...

Re: 2019 Hall of Fame Finalists

i read it as he was suggesting the horse may not be eligible to even make the ballot, not that he won't get voted in. of course he will be, assuming he makes the ballot. but reading the entire article, as a whole, i read it as a question of ballot eligibility, not if voters would pass him on in. (th...

Re: 2019 Hall of Fame Finalists

Bouyea is curious to see how discussions go when 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify becomes eligible, though. Assuming the colt gets into the Hall of Fame, he will have fewer career starts than any other entrant with just six. “Obviously he's a Triple Crown winner but six career starts – I know a lot...

you're right, my apologies.

though now i'm wondering, were they AI'ing him or am i mixing him up with another stud? he doesn't really need to spread his genes, but the in a perfect world, sentimental part of me likes thinking abt his babies.

Trying to luck into the next Raise a Native or Malibu Moon, I suppose. Valiant Minister was a $680,000 OBS juvenile, then won his only start for Baffert, six furlongs in 1.08.82. Second dam is Lunar Spook. How many mares did TGM get his first year? TGM is no longer with us and had been strug...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

so if we get a TC winner, what the racing world is telling me is that the rest of the year is completely invalid outside of divisional honours. sounds good, means everyone can have an easy year.

i hope the HoF manager was serious when he said he didn't think justify would qualify.

Re: Great read - food for thought: Blame the Breeder

however, without claiming races, the stories of "we claimed the horse to save it" might go away, and more horses may be at risk - what horse was it that was recently claimed and retired, but the owner refused to sell and wanted to keep racing? now give them the option to keep running in low tier ra...
