Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

Omaha Beach sidelined again with a virus. Will miss Shared Belief stakes. Wonder if better just to give him the rest of the year off at this point and try again next year.

Re: Standout Losing Efforts

Seattle Slew in the 1978 Jockey Club Gold Cup. He sprinted for the full mile and a half, battled a fresh Exceller all through the stretch and only lost by a nose. A stride after the wire, he was in front again. Bill Shoemaker, who rode Exceller, said after the race, “When I hit the stretch I though...

Re: The Million Dollar G1 Whitney Stakes

Kind of worried about Preservationist- never changed leads and looked exhausted and stiff towards end of race, kind of weaving a bit. Hope just exhaustion and not a flare up of his past foot and ankle problems.

Very Sad to see Aussie Showstopper break down badly during the Molecomb at Goodwood and was euthanized. Maven off the board.

Re: Big Saturday @ The Spa

I would be very surprised if Tacitus is not 3yo champ. That was a disastrous trip and he had no right to run as well as he did. Check that..... I believe the 3YO Champ is prepping on the West Coast as recently as this morning in order to run the table the rest of the way! Del Mar.. 7/27/2019 Dirt 4...

Re: 2019 Two-Year-Olds

Dennis’s Moment super impressive at Ellis Park today winning by over 19 lengths only 3/5 off track record for 7 fur in his second start. In first start at Churchill this son of Tiznow clipped heels, lost rider, still continued running and “won” race. One to watch for sure. Trained by Dale Romans, ma...

Re: Saudi Cup

Wonder if any horse would try to do both races with 1 ship to the Middle East and a month between races? Or maybe that is the new older horse Triple Crown ( Pegasus, Saudi Cup, Dubai) ? I am all for anything that stops horses from retiring at 3 with “ nothing more to prove.”

All bad behavior aside, it is amazing how agile he is to walk so far on his hind legs? Reminded me of the Lippizaners. .

Re: Across the pond

Enable so brave kept fighting to the end- would not let Crystal Ocean get by. Great race by both horses. Her stiffest challenge yet and the great mare prevailed. I noticed Frankie kind of pushed CO over from the 3 path over to the rail. Perhaps this helped his momentum a bit? Race of the year so far...

Thanks- that is a pretty late breeding. Wonder if she didn’t catch earlier? Or done on purpose to have the foal born during warmer weather?

Tried to watch on NYRA but have to open wagering account which I prefer not to do. Catholic Boy better on the turf I think. Preservationist very impressive, happy for Jimmy Jerkens a really good trainer who cares a lot about his horses.
