Re: 2019 Three-Year-Olds

As someone who agreed 100% with the DQ in the Derby, I think Max losing today isn't really much different than most 3 year old racing. Good horses lose races. He got some serious pace compression here, from a horse who looked him in the eye and gave him all he could handle, but then that stumble pro...

Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

Yayyyy another classic winner for Ol’ Awesome Again! Heck of a run by Joevia. I was so happy about that. I was at the track and tried to talk 4 guys into betting the awesome agains......I loved the dam, she was fast and broodmare of the year in 2000. (they didn't like everfast or sir winston and ro...

Uh oh. Worth watching, Tacitus fans. The post position is correct but the date says 2018 so not sure. Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

I like Intrepid Heart and Sir Winston a bit. Intrepid Heart had that weird start in the Peter Pan that may have thrown him off his game, but he kept grinding along in the stretch and that's a pretty good thing for the Belmont. Sir Winston can't be as far back as he likes to be here, but I liked how...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Horses do need to spend a lot of time with their heads down grazing for optimal respiratory health. They don’t get that much here on the backsides of our tracks. Go to Larry Jones' barn. He's been "ground feeding" for as long as I can remember. His horses also have the services of chiropractors and...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

Maybe trainers here can learn more about managing EIPH in horses like they do in the rest of the world, SANS lasix. Maybe many of the horses we breed should not be racing. If they are bleeders they go into other careers Everyone else manages to manage this. They "manage" it by racing on different s...

Re: 2019 Belmont Stakes

I might go with Intrepid Heart for the upset. You won't find a better pedigree for the Belmont and, as much flack as I give Pletcher for his record in the Derby, he has a very good tally in this race. I think his running style also fits well here. Not trying to talk you off a horse, as this race is...

Re: Santa Anita 2019

I don't follow racing like I used to, but it is the TC season, and Finger Lakes is open, so I want to add my 2 cents as someone who was around in the pre Lasix days. It wasn't pretty, especially on hot summer days. At a low end track like FL, many horses were here because they were bleeders. Traine...

Re: Kelly Rubley et al

I would think it's much more difficult when it comes to jockeys, female vs. male at the upper echelon. But for the life of me, I can't figure out a reason a woman hasn't trained a triple crown winner, no reason I can think of. Helen Pitts did a fantastic job as Curlin's conditioner. (Asmussen and J...

Re: 2019 Preakness Stakes

I love bodexpress but thinking he was hard used going from post 19 and not sure I can back a maiden on such short rest. Glad to see laughing fox made the gate. I will be using 2 horses for sure in every spot on my exotics , (who just happen to have good double digit odds) but now just have to find ...

hahahahahaha! Preakness not my race, not really even that familiar w/the horses.
I like win win win or warriors charge to run ITM (trifecta or exacta) and that's all I got right now.

I wonder if anyone else is like me, I avoid any and all "talking heads" prior to a big race, as I do not want my thoughts to be influenced by hype. I don't watch ANY of the shows at all..........ever. I also do all my capping on PPs that do not have any odds. As I also want to choose my horses and n...

Re: Kentucky Derby : Do you agree with the stewards decision?

After I saw this, 100% agree. Unreal. Head on shows max veering across 5 lanes. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would think this was okay. https://twitter.com/CarsoniPH/status/1125028240144457730?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1125028240144457730&ref_url=http%3A%2F%...

To think that we might have been talking this morning about the multiple fatalities of Derby 145 caused when War of Will "couldn't avoid" Maximum Security -- instead of a controversy over the stewards' decision.

Horse racing dodged a bullet the size of a cruise missile yesterday.

Re: Horse Racing is now officially a joke

I wonder how many bettors complained bitterly, when in order to get 3 horses into the Derby gate, Baffert had one of his riders "hand over" the win to his only horse who needed to win in order to MAKE THE GATE.

I know many bettors lost money on that race, too.

https://youtu.be/-jwy9m9oDg0 ^ After watching this replay, it was the right decision. But I no longer care about the sport. It's still animal cruelty especially for the lower ranks that get sent to slaughterhouses. It's no better than greyhound racing and even cock fighting. Watch Maximum Security ...

No, I hate it here. But I'd never move. The bagels are better, though. So is the pizza. I moved from one of the oldest italian neighborhoods in the U.S (in New Haven) and having previously lived in NYC, to South of the mason dixon line 17+ years ago. I"ve forgotten what a real bagel tastes like, an...
