Re: Vet Allday to Breeders' Cup: 'You blew it'

Granted, I know people feel a certain way about Steven Allday... Why is that? His speciality is lameness in equines. He's on the Board of Directors at Old Friends. He's treated A.P. Indy, Cigar, Favorite Trick, as well as winners of 13 Triple Crown races and 29 Breeders' Cup races according to the ...

Re: 2019 BC Classic

I've had a feeeling all along since this happened, that this "outsider" is going to be raked across the coals. Baffert kills 9 horses then his horse fails a drug test TWICE, but that gets opened and shut peretty quickly. THIS will go on and on and is already being talked about for longer than the Ju...

Re: 2019 BC Classic

That was right after he'd been euthanized. Was it really appropriate to send a vet out to wax rhapsodic about how great Santa Anita is while denying that the horse could have had any sort of prexisting injury, even before the necropsy is performed? That wasn't as bad as Repole showing a total lack ...

Re: 2019 BC Classic

I have absolutely no idea why, in situations like this, people conflate the two and interpret any suggestion towards improvement as a personal attack on the sport. i really don't understand how anyone who is a logical thinker can conflate the 2 either. Don't know what else to say. I can't imagine h...

Re: The BC Picks and Analysis Thread

I've seen a lot of debate about Owendale's stamina, and admittedly I'm basing my assumptions on visual appearance moreso than actual evidence. Will be interesting to watch, especially with this track in the mix. THis is one of those opportunities that if you believe in a horse, you will be nicely r...

Re: The BC Picks and Analysis Thread

CoH is still, IMHO, the best bred horse in the Classic. His stamina on the mare side is outstanding, what you need to get over that tiring track. Whether or not he can stay up close is my only worry. If Mike can gun Yoshida to the front early, he has a shot and so does Mongolian Groom. Vino Rosso is...

I think I have to go with a Euro horse in this one, either one of the obrien's or appleby's horse. This is a tough race to figure if you don't absolutely love a certain horse.

Side note....it's a shame what that owner/'trainer' is doing recently to that poor horse, Bon Raison. Has him in again on Friday.
I was following for a while then it sickened me. Has horse had any break at all in forever? I'm afraid to look.

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

Actually you seem offended by her enthusiasm. I’m not certain stating that “execution is hard” is the best choice of phrasing in this instance. I read Tessa's posts and assumed that many of us are talking about achieving a vast reduction in *preventable deaths*. (So many deaths, whether human or an...

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

Let me answer. You spend your free time on a low traffic fan forum displaying your virtue signalling peacock feathers. If you feel powerless, Katewerk, then just say that. ;) And, if that is truly the case, then it really is best that you step aside and let those who feel more capable solve the big...

It's honestly disturbing that so many of you are seemingly more upset by the media coverage of the deaths than the deaths themselves.

<snip>

If you actually want this sport to exist past the next decade, quit whining and start holding people in the industry accountable.

THIS.

Re: Tragedy hits Santa Anita again

I firmly believe that the people who need to know about a training track fatality of a non-famous horse, including the stakeholders and those responsible for oversight and improvements already know without reading about it in Bloodhorse, DRF, or the nightly news. You appear to be quite unaware of t...

Re: Horse Racing Is Its Own Worst Enemy

Are they? I think people have a really negative opinion of racing without PETA's help. I don't see what they're doing to hurt racing so badly in social media at the moment FInding a horse dumped in the wrong part of a landfill isn't the absolute worst thing, unless you combine it with multiple (and...

Hi Tachyon, Any updates on Le Vent Se Lev? Are they still trying to bring him back or has he been retired due to persistent injuries? Thanks LVSL is still undergoing treatment. What were the readings on the other horses who had positives?
Does anyone know........YET?

Also, somewhat off topic: Can anyone tell me why Baffert never races in Florida?

Re: Article in New York Times states Justify failed a drug test before the Derby

Not sure where your home track is, but if you're ever in the Santa Anita neighborhood, you now have a standing invitation to be there at sunrise someday and take a leisurely stroll around the backside barns. It can work wonders for the attitude, just maybe even let you fall in love all over again! ...

Ahhh yes, racing has changed, most of it for the better but life ain't always perfect, nor is it always fair.
this isn't about the good ol' days, perfection or fairness.

This is about a cover up.

Do you always obsfucate like this? Maybe people don't call you on it.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm STILL involved in horse racing. Just not U.S. horse racing. Plenty of good stuff to follow elsewhere. ;)
