Re: Day 2

I'm confused. And I know it's a widely accepted practice that schools dole out free lunches for kids. But my question is......when did that shift from a parents responsibility to the school system? I must've been absent that day. Guess all's well that ends well, but it just seems like the system is...

Re: The opposite of social distancing

I live in New Hampshire. Like many other states we have a shelter in place order in effect. However our governor has been encouraging people to practice social distancing by going hiking on trails that are local to their towns...the problem we are running into is that our biggest and busiest mounta...

Re: what tracks will be open after Sunday?

I wish they'd put polticial pressure where it belongs and not at spectator-less race tracks.

Friend just phoned me up, they had some kind a huge estate sale/going out of business sale at a local pawn shop...tons of people were crowded in like sardines. At this stage in the game! Unreal.

Re: Mandatory DNR in American covid19 patients..ethics violation yes or no?

I think unless you have a very extensive background in medicine, to truly understand the question you are asking, then you won't arrive at the right answer. Prioritzing is done every day, in every hospital. As it is in combat situations. Its done on every transplant unit (I worked on one) when there...

Re: Who Can't You Delete Out of Your Virtual Stable?

I have keep some good horses that I am worried about as they drop down into some very cheap maiden claimers -- want to make sure they don't disappear into the night. Otherwise, since I really only play oaklawn, I keep put in horses I think ran well and might pop next time out. A few unraced interest...

Re: Saturday Gulfstream Watchalong

Hoooh boy. Bemma's Boy upsets Zulu Alpha. taking it by a nose on the wire. Current fought on really well for *I think* third. It was a blanket finish. Galleon Mast ran valiantly from last and got fourth. ETA: Spooky Channel got fourth, but GM still ran really well at the end. That bad start with Ga...

Scratches so far: 3, 4, 6, 11.
Yeah just saw Disc Jockey scratched.

I guess I'll go with Ete Indien as I find I have no real rooting interest here at all. The rest the card looks great.

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

I have family likely to die from COVID19. thank your mom for me. I went on a major rant about those on the front lines in health care, then I had a good cry afterwards....they are the heroes in all of this, doing much with so little. I hear the stories and it's almost unbelievable what they are wor...

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

Its not as black and white as you want to make it. Not everyone lives at the track. The backside workers do, I highly doubt the jockeys, assistant starters, stewards and trainers live at the track. A lot of them would have families and live elsewhere. Who is going to deliver enough groceries for ev...

Re: Santa Anita to close ...

I can drive over to Oaklawn and hang out by the back fence and watch the horses run. I see no problem with a stable environment of same backside workers and jockeys, asst. starters, etc. since most racing takes place outside and they can surely follow CDC guidelines. Not changing environments and ju...

Re: Gulfstream threatens legal action if forced to shut down racing

One only needs to look at the heartbreaking stories coming out of Italy to see that. Italy? The stories coming out of hospitals in the U.S. are heartbreaking. Doctors, EMS, nurses, and other health care workers are pleading for PPE, some are getting sick and ending up on ventilators. Some die. They...

Re: The Florida Derby

Looks like a great card and hope we get to play it. Well just thinking out loud and not sure my thoughts are even a good idea, but personally I think just keeping everyone in their "present environments" is a good idea, just don't have spectators. And don't have owners and officials coming in from o...

Re: $1,000,000 Louisiana Derby Today

WB needs more distance and is not speedy enough to beat some that will be in Derby. Belmont horse for me right now. Which is only race I really care about anyway. Derby has just become even more of a chaos race than it already always has been, and now with the postponements I really don't think I wa...
