Tyler Baze pushes return to June 7
Tyler Baze, who has not ridden since May 19 because of body soreness sustained in a one-horse spill, has postponed his return to riding to June 7 at the earliest, said Craig O’Bryan, Baze’s agent..

Baze was named to ride on Memorial Day weekend and then considered returning this weekend before eventually deciding on a comeback next Thursday. Baze has undergone physical therapy and worked with chiropractors to facilitate a return.

Baze exercised horses at Santa Anita on Thursday and said in a text message that he plans to ride horses each morning this weekend.

The injury occurred when a horse Baze was riding suffered an apparent heart attack in the stretch. Baze fell heavily and was transported from the track to a local hospital via ambulance. He was released within two hours, but has not shaken the effects of the accident.

The spill came at a tough time. Two of Baze’s leading mounts won Grade 2 stakes last weekend – Itsinthepost in the Charles Whittingham Stakes and Belvoir Bay in the Monrovia Stakes.

Through Monday, Baze, 35, had nine wins at the spring-summer meeting, leaving him in a tie for 10th in the jockey standings behind leader Flavien Prat, who has won 23 races.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Pretty certain they're just like any regular guy, if they're traveling alone the HolidayInnExpress or HowardJohnsons is perfectly fine, but if the wife is travelling along with, then you need to count the stars, 5 is recommended.

Joao isn't the only rider leaving Hong Kong.

At the end of that article it also says:
Further changes to the riding roster were also unveiled, with veterans Brett Prebble and Olivier Doleuze replaced by South Africans Callan Murray and Grant van Niekerk, who have been granted licences for the first six months of the season.

I know that both Joao and Tommy have given logical reasons for their moves, but...I can't help but wonder if there is some behind-the-scenes political stuff going on as mainland China continues to exert more control over the former British colony....and maybe its racing colony? :?
Four foreign jockeys suddenly moving out of Hong Kong just seems more than coincidence.

But, from the sound of it, the replacements are also foreigners?

True. I'm not familiar with the two South African riders but, if they're young and hungry, the purses in Hong Kong could be a big draw. politics be darned. :P ;)

Jockey Manny Franco has a bruised right arm and a bruised left calf but did not suffer any fractures after being involved in a spill in Friday’s 11th and final race at Belmont Park.

It won’t be known until Saturday morning whether Franco will ride that day’s Belmont Stakes card, according to Angel Cordero, the former Hall of Fame rider who is Franco’s agent.

“I told him to wait and see how he feels tomorrow,” Cordero said.

I thought it was very kind and classy of Mike Smith to give well wishes to Marlon St. Julien in the Donna Brothers interview.

Looking at that makes me think maybe there's more to all the butthurt about the Belmont than the actual race ;)

That explains why all the Phoenix-owned horses, not just the US-bound Gronkowski, were removed from Noseda's barn.
