Looks like a couple of bots have found their way in...Dorian and fbarraza28. Is there a mod that can delete them and their posts?

I think it used to be Victoria who did that but she doesn't post here anymore.

I'm the maid here. Cleaned up and changed the security question that enables users to register. Should do the trick again for a while, thanks for letting me know. :D

Thank you, Kurenai. :D
One of them (Dorian, I think) was actually pretty funny to read, since it was clear that English was not the native language for the writer. I haven't seen such fractured English since the now-classic users' manuals for 70's-era Honda motorcycles.
And that list of shoe sites took up WAY too much room.

They're backkkk....

Kurenai, don't correct the mental image I have in my head of you swatting them with a large cast iron skillet, OK? :D

Kurenai, I'm so sorry that you're having to waste time playing whack-a-malware with these spammers.
Go get 'em, with prejudice.
ETA: It looks like the spammers are posting more stuff than the actual TBC members are. Not good. :(

Is this really a big deal?

If following the links could result in malware being downloaded or personal information "phished," yes.

This latest round of spam seems to offer links to free streams of sporting events (oddly though, not for horse racing). There are dozens of such sites around the world and all should be approached cautiously, if at all. Standard antivirus protection will catch and stop most of what's out there, but you never know what's lurking on any given site.

It depends. If the spammers continue putting up threads at a high rate, the actual threads that WE want to read get pushed down the page...or even off the first page.
In the larger scheme of things (like trying to get my sick cat to eat SOMETHING), not a big deal. Just aggravating.

ETA: Appears that Obi Wan Kurenai has cleaned out the Dark Phishers. Thank you, K.

I am on it and swat and bash them. I changed the anti spam thingy once more. I did plan a while back to backup the database, install a few new templates and stuff but didn't get around to do it. Mostly because that would result in the forum being offline for a few days, while I did get things up and running again. I especially won't do it now during the TC.

I do check back here at least twice a day and always double check the newest registered members. I also collected quite a large list of "throwaway e-mail providers" that I'll ban. But as with anything on the internet. You cut off one head and 10 other appear.

I know I could set it to activation after an e-mail check by myself but I don't want to drag out the signup process of new members.

TLDR: bear with me, I am on it

I've modded a forum before and it truly is like battling a spam/bot hydra. : - /

Thanks for your efforts, Kurenai! : )

Thanks, Kurenai. There can be some bad stuff lurking in these posts, and I would hate to see someone accidentally click on something.

@Kurenai, thanks so much for keeping this forum usable for those of us who enjoy it. I wish there was some way I could help, because spammers are infuriating.
