The horse just isn't the same G1 sprinter that we knew from 2016 or even 2017. Sadly, even Bsquared can't seem to get the gelding right; maybe his connections should be calling Old Friends to see if the retirement facility has room for this fellow.
Owners Will Shamlian and Samantha Siegel have decided to retire grade 1 winner Masochistic after his poor performance today in the Sensational Star Stakes.

Shamlian: “He’s 100% sound and he’s going to have a 2nd career as a trail horse. He’s had enough and he’s telling us that."
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Even at age 8, Too Fast to Pass lives up to his name; claimed for 18th time
Too Fast to Pass ($4.10) was just that as the 8-year-old gelding jumped out oof the gate running and never looked back, wining for the 14th time in his 62nd career start.

Too Fast to Pass, who was dropping down for $10,000 after having run third for $25,000 claiming, was claimed by Gary Contessa in a two-way shake. It was the 18th time in his career that Too Fast to Pass was claimed.

Chautauqua(Dwayne Dunn) refuses to jump out of barriers again this morning. He will still go down as one of the most exciting sprinters if he is retired now

Mansor just sky-rocketed to #1 of my Giant F-ing Idiots list.
First, nobody keeps their “Thoroughbred makeover” horse fit by breezing it.
Second, who does he actually think he’s fooling?
Third, try riding him in a ring, working on his topline, getting him balanced, so he’s a riding horse not a racehorse.
Oh, fourth, maybe don’t own horses because you clearly don’t actually care about them.

"He's too nice of a horse to just throw him out in a field, so we galloped him a couple times and breezed him yesterday—just nice and slow—and he goes to the pool two or three times a week. "
That's definitely not what your vet meant when they said to get him out in a field oh my god. All race horses need some time in a field to decompress, re-adjust, learn to be just a horse and a little more "normal" mentally. And then, what Iz said, after a few months out in a field enjoying himself, then you start teaching him about a new career and you don't even fucking need to worry about fitness or muscling for several months.
I'm livid reading all this

"too nice to go out in a field" my arse. There are thousands of Thoroughbred, showjumping, eventing, etc. geldings who were top class, yet managed to do just fine going out in a field, whether it be for permanent retirement or a let down period, because their owners actually care about their well being and long term health. I don't know who this owner thinks he is fooling, there are other ways to keep a horse with suspensory issues toned.

If nothing else this is proof that racehorses are not being forced to run. If a 1200lbs animal doesn't want to do something no amount of encouragement from a 110lb human will get him to do it.
