"Gun Runner, expected to be named the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Classic’s morning line favorite later Monday, began his day with a successful final tuneup for this weekend’s race.

The Steve Asmussen trainee drilled a half mile in 49.40 seconds, his seventh workout since a 10 1/4-length victory in Saratoga’s Grade 1 Woodward Stakes.

While I usually find that source to be dubious at best. I hope it's correct. I see zero difference between Gun Runner and Collected except Collected actually has won at 10f and Collected isn't my top pick, at least before the draw.

Kinda sorta about The Gun but more about Frankie - a barn buddy. Cute story.

How strikingly handsome is The Gun - something caught his attention. Haven't been this high on a horse since Wise Dan.

Frank looks like a Min Pin or a Min Pin/Chi mix. I have a stag red Min Pin girl I also found on the street emaciated and dehydrated, unspayed when she was about 14 months old. They have so much personality and are incredibly endearing, loved reading that story!
The Gun looks very handsome, I'd not be the least bit upset if he wins the big one tomorrow (and I'll certainly be over the moon for you, Bal)

Good call -

Quoting from article

[b]“Scott bought a DNA test for him to find out what he was. I was like, ‘So, you spent $75 on Amazon for a DNA test for the eight-pound dog.'”

The results came back: 30 percent Chihuahua, 50 percent Miniature Pinscher, and 20 percent mixed.

Video of the Classic for those who didn't get to see it on TV.

Gate to wire with Collected dogging him all the way until finally he said, "Enough of this crap. I am outta here." He won by 2-1/4 lengths with a 117 beyer. What a horse and what a great jockey - brilliant ride. Kudos to the Asmussen camp for bringing this horse up to his fullest potential going into the Classic. I've never seen Steve that animated. I'm happy for him. Now onto the Pegasus stopping off at the Eclipse Awards to pick up Horse of the Year honors.

Beat me to it. Although 1/2 of me wanted to see him race another year, the other half didn't want to see him not go out a winner. Every horse, no matter how great, has a boiling point. Arrogate had his early on, but Gun Runner one day would reach his. I want him to go out a champ like Rocky Marciano and Sandy Koufax. He's in tip top condition and the Pegasus is calling for him. Here's to The Gun, the Champ.

Not to mention, he's about worth as much as a stallion as he'll ever be so might as well go for Chrome's North American earnings record before he's done. Not surprised he's bred in the purple. I'll bet they ask 100k for him easy.
